As usual the ABC “News” channel has very little outside of reading a report of the incident. No vision.

Certain to be story of the week.

The reporter at the scene was struggling quite a bit, tough story to be fair.

As a coaster/theme park enthusiast, this is very sad for me. 13 people payed money to go on a helicopter beach tour and came back injured or dead. Hope more people live.

10 did live crosses to the Brisbane news room for both Syndey and Melbourne. Emotional crosses for all reporters.

Sydney first

Then Melbourne

Brisbane had a news update with the news on 10.

Have seen no coverage on Nine Brisbane. The first news was at 4.30 pm which was the bulletin that was broadcast in Syndey on one hour’s delay.

ABC News finally got some vision.

Most of the reporters have been very sad and upset during the crosses this afternoon.

Seven taking live news conference. Nothing on ABC News or Sky.

Seven News tonight showed a exclusive video of the crash. Nine also had a video from much closer range but chose not to show the moment of impact they showed the helicopters approaching each other then their attempts to land.

CNN Inernational with coverage of Pope Benedict’s funeral service

When Pope John Paul II died, did any FTA channel air his funeral?

Although a retired Pope, i’m surprised that ABC News aren’t airing the funeral of Pope Benedict. Or even SBS World News to air this?

The funeral of Pope St John Paul II was broadcast on most FTA networks but TEN and Seven opted for regular programming that evening. Nine aired Friday Night AFL in AFL states and NRL in NRL states following the service.

Nine didn’t have AFL in 2015?

No, but it did in 2005, when Pope John Paul II died.

I don’t remember this. Is there any screencaps?

Nine, ABC and SBS all had coverage with the wedding of then-Prince Charles (now King Charles III) and Camilla (now Queen Consort) pushed back to the next day to avoid clash.

Veterans Ray Martin and Jana Wendt spearheaded the coverage for Nine.

Did they all know someone on the helicopters?

You’ve clearly never worked on the road. I’m sure you would be saddened too if you saw dead bodies laying on the sand, bloodied survivors being treated, and families of the victims in distress. The crews on the road see some horrific stuff, give them a break.

What sort of question is that?? Gosh, they’re reporters on the scene at a crash site, do the maths why they might be looking sad?

Nine is showing a live view of just sky at the moment with a QANTAS plane from Auckland issuing a mayday call on way to Sydney.

Update: Coming in to land now - the live feed and radar.

Can’t believe how much of a deal the media made over this, the plane was never in any grave danger and made it back thanks to a very skilled crew.
