Itās happening in Melbourne from May 10-11th, 2025 and tickets will go live on January 18th at 11:00am AEDT until January 26th at 11:59pm for those that have a Nintendo Switch Online account.

Donāt get too excited about these Nintendo events - they go over the top with restricting people attending. And you couldnāt even buy a ticket with the Nintendo points you earn from playing the games. Also, fuck Melbourne. Give us Sydneysiders who were excluded from their event last year a chance to go.
Iād skip these unless you really, really want to see a Switch 2 in person pre-launch. iāll trade in my Switch for one but Iāll still tell off Nintendo. Because Iām an arsehole.
Sadly, I was one of the many few who missed out on a ticket to Nintendo Live last year, so I know how you feel.
Apparently, people were able to sneak in simply by getting someone elseās ticket and the QR code associated with it.
What a surprise.
Youād find the true fans if you made them pay in My Nintendo Points.
As many of our players are currently playing on PS5 and have shifted toward redeeming and accessing PS5 titles from the Monthly Games and Game Catalog benefit, PlayStation Plus is also evolving with this trend and will focus on offering PS5 titles through the Monthly Games and Game Catalog benefit starting January 2026. As we shift to PS5, PS4 games will no longer be a key benefit and will only be occasionally offered for PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and Game Catalog starting January 2026. We may still provide titles that can be playable on both PS4 and PS5 consoles after this date.
In a new update, PlayStation noted that players had āshifted toward redeeming and accessing PS5 titlesā and as such they are āevolving with this trendā.
The company confirmed that from January 2026, the service will focus on offering PS5 titles in the catalog, and PS4 titles will āno longer be a key benefitā.
āAbuse herā Marvel game ad slammed for breaching ad standards
A social media advertisement for Disneyās Marvel Rivals video game has breached the Ad Standards Code of Ethics for sexual violence and nudity, but has not been modified or discontinued by the entertainment giant.
The Tiktok advertisement promoted the third-person hero shooter video game, with the visual of an ambiguously-positioned cartoon woman wearing a bodysuit, boots, and gloves.
It featured text that read: āAbuse her this seasonā. According to the complainant, the voiceover doubled down on the line, saying: āSo abuse āInvisible Womanā while you canā¦ā
The ad received a complaint earlier this month for encouraging sexual violence towards woman, and was found by the Ad Standards Community Panel to be in breach of Section 2.3 ā violence, and Section 2.4 ā sex, sexuality and nudity, of the AANA Code of Ethics.
Disney and Marvel Rivals did not respond to the final determinations made by Ad Standards, and did not modify or discontinue the advertisement.
The new Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on Thursday, June 5, with lead title Mario Kart World also dropping on the same day.
I watched some of the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 this morning. Iāll definitely be getting this.
The console itself is like an upgrade and expansion on the current Switch capabilities with some cool new features. Bigger screens and buttons (a couple new ones too). The controls can also be disconnected and used like a computer mouse and like the old Wii-U controllers. There is enhanced online play with cameras so you can see others you are playing, also inbuilt microphones to talk online etc which is cool.
There are some good Nintendo branded launch games including Mario Kart World, Metroid Prime: Beyond (which will also be on Switch but a more enhanced version on Switch 2) and probably more surprisingly is a 3D Donkey Kong called 'Bananza". They seem to be going with this over a 3D Mario for now but it gives very Mario Odyssey vibes, there are rumours that it was made by the same people as that game. Iāll predict they will save a new 3D Mario for maybe around Christmas time or early next year.
Mario Kart World looks like a really good step forward for the series. It looked like there are planes, boats and other vehicle types in some courses and the graphics are very sleak. It also has more of an open world where some courses are connected and you can explore the world beyond the actual courses in a free roam format. They also have things like changing weather patterns and day/night (both potentially based on real time).
The majority of Switch games will also be compatible with Switch 2, as well.
Game Worlds exhibition will open at ACMI at Melbourneās Federation Square this September.
Switch games are compatible on Switch 2 but only a select of the newer ones will be released for the original Switch.
From my understanding (and the articles Iāve posted below) there are 7 brand new games announced that are Switch 2 exclusives, including Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza.
Then there are some existing Switch games that have upgraded content and expansions on the Switch 2. Examples are Mario Party Jamboree now having more mini games on the Switch 2 that utilise new Switch features. Then a game like Kriby and the Forgotten Land (already released on Switch), has an expansion pack on Switch 2 which opens up a whole new section of the game that appears to be exclusive to Switch 2.
Some new Nintendo exclusive games like Metroid Prime: Beyond and Pokemon Z-A that will be available on both consoles, Iām assuming because both had already been announced and in development before the console. The games will obviously have improved graphics on Switch 2. Metroid Prime also has additional features with the new control mouse functionality.
Iād guess as time goes on most new games will be exclusive to Switch 2.

Iām pretty excited for Mario Kart World; thatāll probably be the only Switch 2 game I will play until such time that more titles are released.
Fair to say my saving up has begun!
The new Mario Kart looks very impressive. I must admit I was worried that it might be a bit more of the same old formula again but theyāve really taken it to a new level which is great to see.
I think Iām most excited for the new Donkey Game as it was a bit unexpected. There hasnāt been a 3D Donkey Kong since the Nintendo 64. A nice point of difference to the usual 3D Mario game for a console launch.
Iāll definitely be getting the Switch 2. I am tempted to pre-order. It is a little pricey though, I notice the games are pricier than Switch ones too.
Agreed.
Though I would also like to think thereāll also be the typical time trial mode and also the vs mode which would allow you to select a certain number of tracks to race on, creating a āmegaā Grand Prix (if that makes sense).
In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, there was the āAll-Cup Tourā which allows you to race on every single track in the game. Recreating this is possible in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and that was before the DLC became available (which expanded the gameās output to a grand total of 96 tracks), after which it was not possible to race on every track as the maximum number of races was 48.
Iād also like to see a new Yoshiās Island game, like a follow-up to Yoshiās New Island which was released for the 3DS in 2014.
