Fox Sports

How is this a backwards step? This is showing women’s sport on the biggest stage - free tv - every Australian will now have access to see the game, now not just a few on pay tv. This is a massive leap forward for women’s sport and combined with cricket on ten it’s a win win for both sports.

Hopefully for Fox Sports, Australian Sam Stosur wins her semi-final French Open match tonight, which will mean they will have exclusive rights to a Grand Slam Final involving an Aussie for the first time ever. A rare premium event exclusive to Fox Sports.

Stosur lost. Got pumped.

##rugby Union Test Series

From 11 June

One of the most anticipated inbound Rugby tours launches this weekend when the Wallabies host England in an historic three-Test series and FOX SPORTS will ensure fans don’t miss a minute of the action.

The tour will be the first time in the century-old rivalry that the two nations have met in a three-Test series and it will be the first encounter since the Wallabies ended England’s World Cup dream last year.

With England coming off a stunning Six Nations victory and under the guidance of new Australian coach, Eddie Jones, the stage is set for a gripping three weeks of international Rugby.

FOX SPORTS will be the only Australian broadcaster delivering live and ad break free coverage in HIGH DEFINITION beginning this Saturday night at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.

Saturday’s coverage begins at 5pm when Nick McArdle joins former Wallabies George Gregan and Greg Martin to preview the upcoming New Zealand v Wales clash before the team return at 7.20pm with John Eales and Phil Kearns to analyse the opening Wallabies v England Test.

At 8pm, the voice of Rugby in Australia, Greg Clark, alongside World Cup winning greats Rod Kafer and Tim Horan take over to call the LIVE action.

From Brisbane, the series moves to Melbourne (June 18) before concluding at Allianz Stadium in Sydney on June 25 with the third and final Test.

FOX SPORTS commentators Horan and Clark were joined by Wallabies star Israel Folau in Brisbane this evening to launch FOX SPORTS’ coverage by turning the city of Brisbane GOLD in partnership with the Brisbane City Council.

Key landmarks and buildings around the city will be illuminated GOLD in the lead up to the opening Test to encourage all Aussies to #GetYourGoldOn in support of the Wallabies.

Australia’s most capped Wallaby, Gregan who played a record 139 Tests, said:

”This is a huge moment for Australian Rugby. It’s the only time that the Wallabies and England – two of the game’s biggest rivals – have played a three test series on Australian soil. Im sure the whole country will get behind our men in gold, as Brisbane has done tonight by turning the city gold in support of our national team.

“With so much history between these two teams, and so much to play for – it’s going to be an epic three weeks of Rugby and I can’t wait to see opposing coaches, and former Randwick rugby teammates, Michael Cheika and Eddie Jones go head to head,” Gregan said.

FOX SPORTS News 500 will cover all the build-up leading into the weekend’s action before delivering the best highlights and all the reaction across the three week Series. In addition, Australia’s number one multi-sports website, foxsports.com.au, will provide the best analysis, opinion and video highlights.

The 2016 US Open golf starts tonight in Pennsylvania. IIRC this is the first time the tournament is shown on pay TV only with no FTA simulcast. Previously US Open was shown on Nine, Ten and then Seven.

It’s been a few years. The last time the US Open was on FTA was in 2011 on Ten/One. I don’t recall Seven ever getting the rights to the US Open?

Never shown on Seven, didn’t realise it was 2011 the last one shown but quick look back, apparently it was. But it’s been on Fox ever since Ten had it.

Still the days when nine had it and butchered the coverage of the year Ogilvy won it with Today.

I would have thought that Fox would allow Ten in some capacity to televise it live, delayed or highlights (similar to The Open)

Why the hell would they let Ten show a product they have purchased live?

Might be beneficial for both parties to give Ten a tease. Fox might be able to do this with many of their sports they have all broadcast rights to.

Golf tournaments (first 2 rounds only)
US Open tennis (first week only)
Australian Cricket Tests (one session per day only)
etc

This used to happen all the time in reverse.

Sure, but I think William was just thinking Ten should be given some coverage.

you both are technically right, as to what I am referring to.

Who is going to call the Warriors Roosters game for FOX Sunday? the nZ guys or the FOX guys?

Doesn’t Sky Sports NZ usually do the production of all Warriors home games, hence the different graphics?

Yes, but who would Nine send anyway?

Not sure if mentioned but Fox will have a Wimbledon 24 hrs channel June 24th.

I am pretty sure the 24 hour channel starts Monday June 27, the first day of Wimbledon.

Oops wrong day
