I’m guessing that Sky in NZ will take the Fox commentary from Greg Clark, Tim Horan and Stephen Hoiles then. Grant Nisbett, Christian Cullen and Richard Turner doing the Crusaders vs Hurricanes match.

Supercars Townsville 400

Red Bull Holden Racing Team’s domination of Townsville will be put to the test by Scott McLaughlin when he leads the Ford Mustang charge at the Watpac Townsville 400 – Live and ad-break free this weekend on FOX SPORTS, on Foxtel.

FOX SPORTS will build up to one of the flagship events on the Supercars calendar with a huge weekend of coverage, starting on Thursday with Supercars Trackside, LIVE at 5.30pm, featuring McLaughlin, Chaz Mostert, Shane Van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup and cricket legend and World Cup winner Andrew Symonds from the driver’s signing session at The Strand.

On track every session will be Live and ad-break free starting on Friday with Supercars Practice 1 (10.55am) and Practice 2 (1.30pm), Race 17 on Saturday at 3.10pm and Race 18 on Sunday at 3.10pm.

In the FOX SPORTS studio, reigning Bathurst 1000 champion Craig Lowndes, will join Mark Skaife and Jess Yates to give Foxtel audiences exclusive insights and analysis, plus Chris Stubbs with all the breaking news.

The team is joined by Supercars commentators Neil Crompton, Greg Murphy, technical analyst Mark Larkham and pit lane reporter Riana Crehan.

FOX SPORTS Supercars expert and five-time Supercars champion, Mark Skaife, said:

“This is a standout event on the Supercars calendar that fans drive hundreds of miles to come and see. The Townsville circuit is a hybrid street layout with a mix of traditional tight street corners before a high-speed section in the parklands area that requires a lot of commitment.

“This level of commitment makes it a real ‘driver’s circuit’ where the best usually come to the fore. It provides great racing with lots of passing opportunities which is evident with only four winners having started on Pole Position in the 21 races held.

“The standout performer of 2019, Scott McLaughlin, will be tough to beat and what we’re witnessing from him this year is history making – he’s 26, at the peak of his powers and in a team who are the best in business.

“I’m expecting David Reynolds and Chaz Mostert to be his main challengers this weekend. Interestingly, there are a few drivers coming off contract that are performing for their careers, so you can expect to see that desperation on track this weekend and into the second half of the year and Chaz will be central in that as it all unfolds.”

Foxtel subscribers can also stream FOX SPORTS’ Supercars coverage where and when they want using Foxtel GO or Foxtel Now.

Sunday Telegraph is reporting that Sky News’ Kieran Gilbert will be one of the hosts of the Fox Sports RWC coverage - Gilbert was recommended by Yvonne Sampson

Kieran Gilbert joins Fox Sports for Rugby World Cup Japan 2019

Sky News Presenter Kieran Gilbert will join Fox Sports on Foxtel for its Live, ad-break free and 4K coverage of every game of the 2019 Rugby World Cup Japan.

Currently serving as Chief Political Reporter for Sky News in Canberra, Gilbert joins Fox Sports as a host on the dedicated Rugby World Cup channels, available in HD and 4K.

Gilbert will work alongside Fox Sports’ unprecedented line-up of Rugby’s best experts and analysts including World Cup winners George Gregan, Tim Horan and Phil Kearns plus the voice of Rugby in Australia, Greg Clark.

Gilbert said: “My two great interests are politics and sport, so after 17 years covering politics I can’t wait to launch into some sport as well.”

“I’m hugely excited to be joining Fox Sports for one of the biggest sporting competitions in the world, working alongside Wallabies legends Phil Kearns, George Gregan and Tim Horan among others. It’ll be an honour and I can’t wait to cover all the action with them.”

Fox Sports Head of Television, Steve Crawley, said: “Kieran is a world class television host. When we called him to check on his interest in the Rugby World Cup he said he was taking holidays from Sky News and would be watching every minute.

“We said we might be able to make it a bit more interesting than that – and he jumped at our proposition to host FOX SPORTS coverage.”

Gilbert will return to his hosting role with Sky News at the conclusion of the Rugby World Cup 2019.

Every match of the Rugby World Cup Japan 2019 is LIVE, ad-break free during play and in 4K across two dedicated channels on FOX SPORTS.

Makes me wonder if Nick McArdle will be part of the coverage.

The 2019 Rugby Championship

The Wallabies road to Japan for the 2019 Rugby World Cup begins this weekend when the Rugby Championship is Live and ad-break free on FOX SPORTS, on Foxtel.

Facing South Africa at 12.30am on Sunday morning, the Wallabies will then square off with the world champion New Zealand All Blacks and Argentina in a four-way fight to see which nation reigns supreme in the Southern Hemisphere.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has welcomed back James O’Connor and Nic White to the squad to join established domestic players Michael Hooper, Kurtley Beale and Will Genia plus Taniela “Tongan Thor” Tupou in the green and gold.

FOX SPORTS will deliver insights and analysis throughout the Rugby Championship with former Wallabies George Gregan, Drew Mitchell, Phil Kearns, Tim Horan, Rod Kafer, Justin Harrison, Greg Martin and Stephen Holies alongside host Nick McArdle and the voice of Rugby in Australia, Greg Clark.

FOX SPORTS Rugby expert and Wallabies legend, Tim Horan, said:

Australia: “After the Wallabies first two test matches in the Rugby Championships they will need to have settled on starting 15 for the World Cup so they can build momentum. They need an attacking mindset which is apparent in the selection of their fullback with Kurtley Beale, Tom Banks and Dane Haylett Petty in the running, and which backrow combination Cheika goes with in order to springboard us into Japan come September.”

South Africa: ”The Springboks, ranked No.5 in the world, are my bolters for the World Cup because of the style of game of play is aimed at low mistakes, plus a dominant forward pack and kicking the majority of their goals, which suits because World Cups are won by not making mistakes. It will be interesting to see how they fare in the Rugby Championships as it will be telling for their campaign in Japan. Flyhalf Handre Pollard is the key man and he will punish teams that cough up penalties within kicking range.”

Argentina: “Following the success of the Jaguares making the Super Rugby final, Argentina have a distinct advantage with the bulk of their squad playing together for the whole Super Rugby season, so they will hit the ground running. They have a flamboyant and fast style of play where they like to keep the ball alive and kick out of trouble with ease. This team continues to improve a lot and are more than capable of beating the best in the world.”

New Zealand: “The All Blacks are the best in the world and continue to be the benchmark. They will be wary of their challengers and be ready to rise to the occasion this year. Any team that beats them will need a total team performance across 80 minutes. They have an embarrassment of riches in their squad that comes off the back of the Crusaders winning the Super Rugby title with the addition of superstars Beauden Barrett, Sonny Bill Williams and Ardie Savea.”

Every match 2019 Rugby Championship is LIVE, ad-break free during play and in HD on FOX SPORTS and Foxtel Go.

FOX SPORTS expert commentator Mark Bosnich said: “Now we’re into the Round of 32 knockout stage of the tournament you can guarantee that the desperation and intensity of the games will lift.

“The thing that makes the FFA Cup so intriguing are the clubs from outside of the A-League that qualify. This year we have clubs from Mackay in North Queensland, Mount Druitt in Western Sydney, South Hobart in Tasmania as well as teams from regional Victoria.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for teams from around the country to test themselves against the best clubs in the A-League competition and provides a platform for the players to showcase their talent on a bigger stage.”

In 2019, a record 737 clubs from around the country entered the FFA Cup competition to compete in the preliminary rounds.

From its inception in 2014, the A-League have dominated the FFA Cup with Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and reigning 2018 champions Adelaide United all claiming victory in the past 5 years.

I noticed Brenton Speed calling last night’s Australia v Lithuania game from the Sydney studio, as he was at Parramatta tonight commentating the NRL clash between the Eels and the Sea Eagles.

Tried listening to the host telecaster call for the Canada game, the play by olay guy from Britain was as interested as some grandmother was at leaving her knitting on cold winter’s day amd the co,our commentator (a Canadian female from the sound of her voice) couldn’t have sounded more biased if she tried.
