On Sunday, May 19, the 2018/19 Hyundai A-League will reach its crescendo when Perth Glory goes head to head with Sydney FC at Optus Stadium, Perth where the winning team will be crowned 2019 Hyundai A-League Champions.

Coverage begins from 5.30pm AEST, with the Grand Final kicking off at 6.30pm AEST on FOX SPORTS 505.

“Really excited to go back to Perth, it is the first time in the A-League era the Grand Final will be in WA. The last time a final was in WA was in 2003 in the days of the NSL.

“It is going to be a fantastic atmosphere at the new Optus Stadium in Perth with 50,000 people and we get to watch the two best teams in the competition going head to head after finishing first and second on the ladder. What an amazing way to end the season.

“I expect it to be a very close game with a repeat of the explosiveness in last Friday’s Semi-Final between Perth and Adelaide.”

At the conclusion of the match, FOX SPORTS will showcase all the celebrations with coverage of the official presentation.

Following the celebrations, Tara Rushton will host all the Grand Final discussions on Sunday Shootout with Archie Thompson and John Kosmina.

I wonder why they can’t keep it on the same channel all week.

I’m surprised that Fox Sports hasn’t farmed off its rights to the French Open and Wimbledon to ESPN!

I think it’s because 503 and/or 505 will broadcast some Cricket World Cup matches in the next two weeks (there are occasions when two matches are held on the same day). 503 will also show overlapping AFL matches on Saturdays.

Magnificent Week of Motorsport

FOX SPORTS is all gridded up for an epic weekend of Motorsport with the Monaco Grand Prix, Supercars and the Indianapolis 500 all LIVE on Foxtel this weekend.

The lights will go out from 6.45pm tonight (Thursday 23 May) with fastest cars in the world on the glamourous streets of Monte Carlo getting the Jewel in the crown event of the Formula 1 season underway with Practice 1.

Ricciardo will face stiff opposition in his new surroundings at Renault with Lewis Hamilton, Valterri Bottas, Max Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel plus Monaco local Charles Leclerc, out to win on his home streets, when drivers look to honour F1 legend and Ferrari world champion driver, Niki Lauda.

On Friday the Supercars championship is set for a showdown deep in Ned Kelly country with the Winton SuperSprint Live and ad-break free during racing on FOX SPORTS across the weekend.

In the FOX SPORTS trackside studio, reigning Bathurst 1000 champion Craig Lowndes, will join Mark Skaife and host Jess Yates to give Foxtel customers insights and analysis across the weekend, plus Chris Stubbs with all the breaking news.

The team are joined by Supercars Experts Neil Crompton, Greg Murphy, technical analyst Mark Larkham and pit lane reporter Riana Crehan.

FOX SPORTS expert commentator, Mark Skaife, said: “Winton is a short, tight and twisty circuit that offers quite a technical challenge to teams and drivers and produces very close racing.”

“A key point to note is that it’s not very sensitive circuit to aerodynamics and given the record of the Holden Commodore teams that test there, I think that we will see a very close contest this weekend.

“History suggests that Winton can produce surprise winners and if any of the top teams encounter trouble expect the Nissans of Rick Kelly and Andre Heimgartner along with the Brad Jones Racing Commodores of Tim Slade and Nick Percat to be right there to pick up the pieces.”

Fox Clips Innovation puts Rugby in the hands of fans

WORLD FIRST CLIP SHARING TECHNOLOGY FOX CLIPS TO DEBUT THIS WEEKEND ON SUPER RUGBY

Introducing FOX Clips – a world-first innovation from FOX SPORTS and Rugby Australia that lets fans share any rugby moment from TV. This will be the first time that a viewer of a live sports broadcast has had the power to create and share clips of sporting highlights with their friends on social media.
Available for anyone to use in Rugby Australia’s Xplorer app, FOX Clips uses proprietary image recognition technology to identify what program you are watching and then lets you turn it into a clip and share it.

“Fox Clips is yet another way that the Rugby Xplorer App brings fans closer to the game” said Adam Freier, Rugby Australia’s Head of Marketing and Digital. “Every fan has a unique perspective on the game and now they can share that with other fans using the Rugby Xplorer App and Fox Clips”
FOX Clips can only be used on any live FOX SPORTS channel broadcast of a rugby program, whether it is a live match, replay or magazine program. You could be watching FOX SPORTS on your TV at home, on your computer at work or even at the pub.
Using the Rugby Xplorer app, fans simply take a picture of their TV, edit their clip and share it. See a brilliant try or hilarious falcon? Share it on Twitter with friends in Australia. Catch your mate in the crowd at the game? Snap your TV and send it to him on Messenger.
“We’re always looking at new ways to enhance the fan experience,” said FOXSPORTS Head of Digital Brad Schultz. “FOX Clips is yet another innovation bringing our audience closer to the sports that they love by giving them full control of the experience from TV to mobile to social media.”
FOX Clips’ underlying technology, which has a patent pending, was developed by Snapscreen Application GmbH in Austria and has been licensed to FOX SPORTS by Snapscreen Australia.
“Snapscreen is delighted to continue our partnership with FOX SPORTS to support its relationship with Rugby Australia and bring this world first solution to rugby fans,” says Thomas Willomitzer, Founder and CEO of Snapscreen.

Supercars Darwin Triple Crown and Catalunya MotoGP

The challenge that is yet to be conquered – the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown – is in Scott McLaughlin’s sight and 24 other drivers will be standing in his way as he bids to make history – Exclusively Live this weekend on FOX SPORTS, on Foxtel.

The Triple Crown, which comprises winning the two races and the Top 10 Shootout at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin, hasn’t been won since its introduction in 2009 at a circuit that has produced nine different winners from the past 11 Supercars races.

Foxtel will have every moment of the action, starting with Supercars Trackside tomorrow from 4.30pm. On-track the action will commence at 11.30am Friday with Supercars Practice before Race 15 (120kms) and Race 16 (200kms) of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship take place on Saturday and Sunday.

In the FOX SPORTS studio, reigning Bathurst 1000 champion Craig Lowndes, will join Mark Skaife and Jess Yates to give Foxtel audiences insights and analysis across the weekend, plus Chris Stubbs with all the breaking news.

The team is joined by Supercars experts Neil Crompton, Greg Murphy, technical analyst Mark Larkham and pit lane reporter Riana Crehan.

FOX SPORTS expert commentator and five-time Supercars champion, Mark Skaife, said: “This is a signature event of the Supercars season with its party carnival atmosphere, fantastic amphitheatre viewing areas for fans and the circuit itself having one of the longest straights on the calendar.

“The drama often unfolds at the end of this long straight that is followed by a tight turn one, producing an interesting first corner of the race when 25 Supercars pile in there at high speed. The Darwin weather, being so hot compared to everywhere else we visit on the calendar, presents a physical challenge for drivers with temperatures inside the cars regularly soaring above 50 degrees.

“The Shell V-Power Racing Ford Mustangs have been strong everywhere this season, but this is a circuit that I believe will suit the Holden Commodores very well. Due to the length of the front straight the Red Bull Holden Racing Team of Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen will be strong as will David Reynolds, who is traditionally very fast at this circuit.

“Nissan have also been very strong historically at this venue so there’s probably around a dozen serious contenders this weekend, I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.”

After the chequered flag drops in Darwin on Sunday, motorsport fans can also tune into the MotoGP World Championship with the support events for the Catalunya Grand Prix from 4.30pm.

FOX SPORTS’ MotoGP experts Chris Vermeulen and Kevin MaGee alongside host Chris Stubbs will deliver a comprehensive preview before in the MotoGP Paddock Show from 6.00pm, featuring an exclusive interview with Suzuki rider Alex Rins and all the rumblings from behind closed doors with the Paddock Spy.

Former MotoGP race winner Vermeulen, said: “This is a great Grand Prix at a fast and flowing style circuit lined by 100,000 screaming fans.

“The Ducatis are usually strong here which bodes well for Jack Miller, who has done a lot of extra practice days at the Catalunya circuit recently so he will be a good chance of a podium or even a win if things go his way.

“Miller’s main obstacle however will be Marc Marquez and he will be on a mission at his home Grand Prix with his fan base out in full force from his home town just down the road.

“Valentino Rossi will be fired up for a strong result after a disappointing last start crash at his home Grand Prix and the Catalunya circuit is one he has done well at in the past – he holds the record with 10 wins.”

Foxtel subscribers can also stream FOX SPORTS’ Supercars and MotoGP coverage where and when they want using Foxtel GO or Foxtel Now.

It is believed that Fox Sports has asked Rugby Australia to pay some of the production costs for the broadcasts of the Australian Rugby Championship, and that Fox has approached other broadcasters in an attempt to on-sell the rights to the FFA Cup with SBS apparently interested. SBS, Seven and Ten are all thought to have had talks about buying some A-League games from Fox.

FOX RUGBY expert commentator and former Brumbies captain, Stephen Hoiles, said: “The Brumbies go in as favourites but the Sharks will be up for a fight and have proven they are more than capable of pulling off an upset this season.”

“The Brumbies will need to weather the storm early and be patient. They can apply pressure with their scrum which will lead to penalties and their potent driving maul, which has been their main point scoring weapon all season.

“Rory Arnold leads their forward pack by example and his influence at the set piece will be crucial to the outcome of this match. Despite the praise that the Brumbies forwards receive they’re quite a well-balanced team across the park with backs Christian Lealiifano, Tevita Kuridrani and Tom Banks all in great form.

“It’s going to be a physical game on a cold night down in Canberra, I’m expecting a close scoreline and the Brumbies to prevail and continue into week 2 of the finals.”
