Just talk though, she’all be exploring her options financially. at the end of the day money talks.

I’m guessing she might play a similar role to someone like Sarah Jones or Neroli Meadows at Fox Footy

An A League TV deal could be struck as early as this week.

Hopefully whoever gets the FTA rights is able to gain live access to the finals. The league does need more FTA coverage, though, to thrive.

The article also mentions rights to Socceroos matches but it only cover the remainder of their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. For their international friendlies in 2018 and beyond there will have to be another broadcast deal.

A very poor deal for the ffa… they will never gain mass appeal with one solitary game simulcast on free to air a week. They need broad base appeal. Also the money is lower than the 80million a year they were expecting.

They need a free to air exclusive deal for a few years then go back to pay tv. The sport will languish until they get broad base appeal that only free to air can give them.

At the very least it should be two games a week free to air and all finals and grand final live and exclusive on free to air. But fox will never let that happen.

Fox have first and last rights at the moment. Hopefully the FFA haven’t renewed that side of the agreement.

Fox Sports has signed a new 6-year, $346 million A-League broadcast deal with the FFA, which will be formally announced this afternoon. According to Fox Sports website:
Fox Sports to broadcast all A-League games live on Foxtel TV, Foxtel Go & Foxtel Play services,
Socceroos, Matildas, W-League and FFA Cup matches will continue to be broadcast on the Foxtel platform,
One A-League match will be broadcast live on free to air television on Saturday nights in a deal to be concluded next year
The new deal excludes the rights to final round Socceroos World Cup qualifying matches, the Asian Cup and the Asian Champions League which are controlled by the Asian Football Confederation.

It does not say if and how Socceroos, Matildas and W-League matches will be shown on FTA when the new deal starts in July 1 next year and expires in 2023.

FFA adds that it expects to make an announcement regarding free to air television, radio and international rights in the first half of next year.

Apparently not Nine, according to this:
DeciderTV can reveal the Nine Network will not place a bid for the A-League.
Did nine test the market with the Aussie games earlier and realise it’s not as big as new.ltd make out it to be? Spend money on things that bring money back to the network.

Also a Saturday night in the summer time, the least viewers watching tv (based on ratings) FTA networks might not jump at this offer. Again soccer missing the goals with a TV deal that does nothing for exploser to the sport.

Is DeciderTV ever accurate? If they say something, I usually bet money on the opposite.

Saturday night A League is huge, its where the marquee games are played - derbies and stuff. Which is 10x better than a crappy Friday night A League game.

What a load of utter nonsense. The Friday night spot is definitely a marquee spot like in the 2 other footy codes.

Please elaborate further.

Both of you are right - Sammy in saying Friday nights are a marquee timeslot and William in regards to what he said about what games are scheduled for Saturday nights

This is a disaster for the ffa. Will never become a mainstream sport with such a large pay tv deal. Good luck to fox but it’s a poor effort from the administration to take the money and run.
