Fox Showcase

Euphoria

Starts Monday 17 June at 9.30pm AEST

Foxtel’s controversial new drama series Euphoria is already creating waves ahead of its premiere next week, with calls from media watchdog groups to ban the show.

Starring superstar actor and singer Zendaya , Euphoria follows a group of high-school students as they navigate a mine field of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship. The series will be available to customers streaming it On Demand, and to watch on FOX SHOWCASE, from Monday, June 17 at 9.30pm – just hours after its US premiere.

US censorship advocacy group the Parents Television Council has called for the show to be pulled, expressing concern that the series “appears to be overtly, intentionally, marketing extremely graphic adult content – sex, violence, profanity and drug use – to teens and preteens.”

Media reviews for the series have been just as controversial. Variety have called the HBO drama “ a wild, unsettling ride ”, while the Hollywood Reporter questions “ How much teen sex and drugs is too much ?”

Brian Walsh , Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, said: “This series is not for everybody and it’s not for your 14 year old. Parental Guidance is advised for our customers using streaming and there’s a good reason why the channel timeslot is 9.30pm. The show isn’t always easy to watch, and there is no question it pushes the boundaries, but it is provocative, authentic and unforgettable.”

Based on the ground-breaking Israeli series of the same name, Euphoria takes an up-close-and-personal look at what it’s like to be a young person today, in a story that’s equal parts shocking and empathetic.

Creator/writer Sam Levinson directed five of Euphoria ’s episodes. In addition to Levinson, EPs include Drake and Future the Prince. Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin, who created the Israeli series, also serve as executive producers.

But Brian Walsh doesn’t care that it’s on at 9:00pm in SA and NT, 7:30pm in WA, 6:30pm on Christmas Island and 6:00pm on the Cocos Islands, and that there are repeats at 2:15pm EST on Wednesday, 6:55am on Thursday, and 8:50am on Saturday. He is talking rubbish.

Also, unless Foxtel have changed their policy, it will (probably) be an R 18+ program that Foxtel has rated MA 15+.

Pose

A third season of the award-winning and history-making series is greenlit following the launch of Season 2

Stream and screen new episodes of season 2 every Sunday

Hot off the ‘ballroom’ heels of the season 2 launch, Foxtel today announced that a third season of the award-winning and ground-breaking drama series Pose from Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions, will be coming to Australian audiences in 2020.

Season 2 of the truly revolutionary drama series, is available to stream on Foxtel and screen on FOX SHOWCASE, the home of FX Originals, Sundays at 9:30pm AEST.

Brian Walsh , Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, said: “We are proud of series like Pose , which promotes tolerance and diversity and we are delighted it has been commissioned for a third season to screen exclusively on Foxtel in 2020. Elevating our culture and pushing the boundaries of the TV landscape, Pose is a drama spotlighting the legends, icons and ferocious house mothers of New York’s underground ball culture, a movement that first gained notice in the late 1980s.

Season 2 flashes forward in time to 1990. On the heels of the ballroom community establishing itself in pop culture and going mainstream, the House of Evangelista is forced to reevaluate their goals. Meanwhile, the AIDS crisis worsens and the reaction from a group of activists reaches a fever pitch.

Making television history, Pose features the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles, as well as the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a scripted series. The transgender cast includes Mj Rodriguez , Dominique Jackson , Indya Moore , Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross , who co-star alongside, Tony Award® winner Billy Porter , Charlayne Woodard , Ryan Jamaal Swain , Dyllón Burnside , Angel Bismark Curiel and Sandra Bernhard .

Mj Rodriguez stars as “Blanca Rodriguez,” who breaks from the House of Abundance and her former house mother “Elektra” (Dominique Jackson) to form her own “house,” a self-selected family that provides support to LGBTQ youth rejected by their birth families. Indya Moore plays “Angel,” a streetwalker with modeling aspirations. Ryan Jamaal Swain plays “Damon Richards,” a dancer who joins Blanca’s house. Together they compete in the Balls—where house members challenge each other in various categories and are judged on their outfits, attitude, or dance skills—under the watchful eye of Billy Porter as “Pray Tell,” Grandfather to all the children who compete in the house balls.

Pose was co-created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals. The series is executive produced by Murphy, Falchuk, Canals, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh. Janet Mock is co-executive producer, Our Lady J is supervising producer, and Erica Kay serves as a producer. Mr Inbetween - Season 2

Starts Friday September 13

Express from the US at 2pm and encored at 8pm Fridays

Special encore screening Sundays at 8.30pm AEST on FOX SHOWCASE

Mr Inbetween, the critically acclaimed Australian half hour comedy series created by and starring Scott Ryan as the criminal-for-hire “Ray Shoesmith” returns for its second season. Mr Inbetween premieres Friday, September 13, Express from the US at 2pm and encored at 8pm with a special primetime encore screening Sundays at 8.30pm on FOX SHOWCASE, the home of FX Originals and available to stream On Demand.

Ryan reprises the role as charismatic, yet volatile hit man “Ray Shoesmith”, a role which earned him a TV WEEK Logie Award for ‘Most Outstanding Actor’, and he again serves as the series writer, with Nash Edgerton directing the series.

“The response to season one was super positive both here and in the US, with everyone wanting more. We are very excited to share more episodes, allowing us to explore Ray’s character further and delve deeper into Ray’s adventures in crime, dating and parenting,” Edgerton said.

Juggling a relationship, parental responsibilities, friendships and a sick brother while earning a living would be difficult for anyone, but it’s particularly difficult when you’re a criminal for hire.

Ray Shoesmith “takes care of people” — collecting debts, relieving them of drugs and guns, and often taking care of them on a more permanent basis. Ray demands respect and does not tolerate it when someone disregards his very clear code of ethics. In season two of Mr Inbetween, Ray’s work and personal life begin to collide and he finds himself struggling to keep both sides of his life from imploding.

The ten-part season stars Ryan along with Brooke Satchwell as girlfriend Ally, Justin Rosniak as best friend Gary, Chika Yasumura as daughter Brittany, Nicholas Cassim as brother Bruce, Damon Herriman as boss Freddy, David Michôd as Peter the anger management counsellor and Matt Nable as Dave.

New cast includes Ben Oxenbould as Dirk, Josh McConville as Alex, Rebecca Montalti as Mandy and Rose Riley as Michele.

Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh said: “The first season of Mr Inbetween was a hit with viewers and a critical success and we can’t wait to see what the brilliant creative team have in store for the new season. We are proud to bring these unique stories to Australian audiences and Mr Inbetween joins a huge line-up of Australian drama on Foxtel including Wentworth, Secret City , Lambs of God and two upcoming series Upright and The End .

“At Foxtel our continued strategy is to find and commission local stories that are designed for our dedicated Australian viewers. International success, such as what Mr Inbetween has achieved is a welcome bonus”.

The series was recently shot in Sydney and is produced by FX in association with Blue-Tongue Films, Jungle Entertainment and Pariah Productions. Edgerton, Ryan and Jason Burrows are Executive Producers and Michele Bennett is producer.

Mr Inbetween screens Express from the US, Fridays at 2pm and encored at 8pm from September 13 with special primetime encore screenings Sundays at 8.30pm on FOX SHOWCASE and every episode is available to stream On Demand.
