Not sure. Maybe Sandy is calling the match for AFL Nation radio on the night so he is not available?
Thatâs interesting, my iQ 2 on-screen EPG says FoxFootyHD.
iQ3 (when logos are turned off) also says FoxFootyHD.
Gill?
Didnât think the AFL CEO was that powerfulâŚ
GWS v Fremantle only had 3 commentators today (usually they have 4 or 5)
Team was Dwayne Russell (main commentator), Brad Johnson (special comments) and Brian Lake (boundary)
Brenton Speed commentating the Gold Coast v Richmond match.
I donât have Foxtel.
But managed to watch this afternoonâs Essendon vs. Carlton game at a mateâs place.
Gotta say, having two senior personalities doing a Saturday afternoon is good to see.
Sandy is still superb after all these decades, miss him at Seven!
Sandy and Eddie often call Saturday afternoon games together, but only if in Melbourne. Neither of them travel.
Of course Eddie McGuire wouldnât travel to call a game, he properly thinks places like Sydney or Adelaide are a foreign country or something
IIRC he was Nineâs CEO, based in Sydney?
Two current players will be joining Fox Footyâs finals coverage this Saturday. Hawthorn captain Jarrad Roughead will work with Jonathan Brown and Jason Dunstall for the Sydney-Essendon match, while Melbourne star Jordan Lewis will join for Port Adelaide v West Coast.
Fox Footy has received the Grant Hattam Award for excellence in sports journalism at tonightâs AFL Players Association MVP Awards in Melbourne.
AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan will guest co-host AFL 360 tomorrow (Tuesday) with Gerard Whateley. McLachlan has made regular appearances on the show.
Fox Footy was also a big winner at the Australian Football Media Awards in Melbourne on Tuesday. Apart from Gerard Whateley winning the Alf Brown award for the second time (shared with ABC), other winners include:
The Clinton Grybas Rising Star - Tom Morris
Most Outstanding Use of Social Media â FOX Footy â Nat Fyfe 2017
Most Outstanding Program â Television/Online â On The Couch
Most Outstanding Special Commentator â Television (Match and Program) â Paul Roos
Most Outstanding Caller â Television â Anthony Hudson
Fox Footy expert and former AFL reporter for The Age, Jake Niall, was inducted into Australian Football Media Association Hall of Fame.
Recently retired West Coast and Hawthorn star Sam Mitchell will make his TV debut tonight, joining Fox Footyâs studio coverage of the preliminary final between Adelaide and Geelong.
This afternoon I am looking forward to viewers posting on the FOX Footy Facebook page complaining why FOX Footy isnât showing the Grand Final live, it happens every year!, surely most people with Foxtel know that FOX doesnât have the rights to simulcast Sevenâs coverage live.
One of the great footy traditions.
That being said, Fox donât do themselves a favour by constantly saying that the game is coming up and not making enough of a deal that theyâre not showing the game. They have a countdown clock in the bottom right with âgame live inâŚâ just above it - so I can understand some confusion, though youâd think viewers would be more switched on!
