Who’s calling North v Crows?
Leigh Montagna, Kelli Underwood, David King, Jason Dunstall and Nick Dal Santo
Leigh’s a good analyst, but he’s not a great caller. Send him to radio or their VFL or youth coverage to gain some experience.
Leigh does call some games for Triple M as the caller/ PBP.
I have liked the Kelli and Leigh combo the last two weeks. Good potential from both of them.
Yeah I think Kelly is great and Leigh has good potential, but I think he should stay on the no-raters until he has gotten more polished. They have great chemistry though, which is good.
It will be the second time VFL is shown on pay TV (C7 broadcast some matches until its closure in 2002) and the first time it’s broadcast live by Fox Footy.
Might be wrong, but didn’t the original Fox Footy Channel show replays of state league football produced by the ABC at one point?
Pretty sure it did in 2003 when Fox Footy Extra existed (IIRC, it was a supplementary channel which only existed for 1 year)
According to today’s Herald Sun, the main broadcast will be from Crown Palladium and hosted by Fox Footy’s Sarah Jones and Kath Loughnan.

What’s the big deal, they do the same for the Brownlow IIRC.
Is not like there was anything in between anyway… they didn’t miss anything
Exactly - it’s just the breaks during the Brownlow are disguised by (mostly) mind-numbing filler segments
Thursday Night Footy on Fox all season long
Fans will be treated to Thursday Night Footy on FOX for the whole 2021 season as well as witnessing the future stars of the game with VFL games being broadcast on Thursday nights from tonight.
It all begins when GWS Giants take on Footscray from Blacktown in Sydney from 7pm and FOX FOOTY is the only place to see it.
Hosted by Kath Loughnan , Anthony Hudson and Leigh Montagna will call all the action alongside Brad Johnson in special comments and Cameron Mooney direct from the ground on the boundary. The expert panel will preview the AFL round ahead as well celebrate grassroots footy at its best.
All eyes tonight will be on the number one draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan as the Bulldogs go for back-to-back wins against a winless GWS.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring VFL footy to a whole new audience in 2021 via Foxtel and Kayo, with more coverage than ever before.
“The expert FOX FOOTY team will be covering every Thursday night match as well as the Finals, with fans able to watch live on Foxtel or stream on Kayo. In a major boost, Kayo will also produce a minimum of two additional matches per round which will be streamed live and free on Kayo Freebies.
“VFL plays a major role not only as a feeder league to the AFL, but also in keeping community footy clubs engaged, so we’re excited to make more matches accessible to dedicated footy fans across the country,” said Steve Crawley, FOX SPORTS Executive Director.
FOX FOOTY on Foxtel will also present two-three VFL games every round on Kayo Freebies (no paywall) and show all finals including the grand final. Thursday night AFL games will return in round 13.
There’s only been one round. True, but odd wording.
Eddie McGuire returned to Fox Footy commentary today, calling the twilight clash between Carlton and Brisbane with Dwayne Russell. It was Eddie’s first match as commentator since he resigned as Collingwood president two months ago.
Unique line-up for Crows v GWS at Adelaide Oval yesterday afternoon: Brenton Speed calling play-by-play from Sydney, Kelli Underwood and Brad Johnson commentating from Melbourne and Mark Ricciuto providing special comments at the venue.
It has happened quite a bit actually for Fox this year
It also happen a couple of times last year as well.
His second. He also commentated last weekend.
