According to 6PR, Eddie will fly to Perth to call the derby between West Coast and Fremantle for Fox Footy (and Seven in WA) this Saturday night.

I may as well have to avoid listening to Eddie McGuire.
Last year, when Eddie was at the west coast v Collingwood qualifying final at Optus stadium he went ballistic.

Amazingly, this is front page news in The West Australian today. It’s quite the dummy spit from Seven West that their Derby coverage; taken from Fox Footy, will consist of two Nine employees (the other being Matthew Pavlich, who presents sport on Nine News in Perth).
One of their online stories has it that Eddie McGuire demanded to be taken down to Margaret River for wine tasting whilst speaking to 6PR this morning - when in reality it was said tongue in cheek with the hosts laughing!

I read through the west Australian today and there is a education list for Eddie on p4-5. Eddie must be told that he needs to pronounce words correctly like Derby, not Darby. Most victorians pronounce this word with an AR instead of ER.
Agree, absolute non story. You’d think Ed was the worst play by play caller Fox had or something. Personally- Ed, Huddo and Papalia are the best they’ve got- would much prefer listening to a combo of those guys over the Crazygood Dwayne or Speed.

If Seven doesn’t want it from happening, it should pray the two teams will meet in the finals, thus Seven will produce the coverage and allocate its commentators for the game.

Or they could cover the game themselves… Not like the game is being held in a timeslot that they don’t cover at all or anything!

Just like when he suggested drowning Caroline Wilson or having Adam Hooded promote King Kong. It’s always a bit hard to tell with Ed.
Seven didn’t pick the game (nor the return match in Round 16) for main broadcast when the AFL was drafting the 2019 fixture last year. I think Seven won’t make the same mistake again when the 2020 fixture is made later this year.

Anthony Hudson and Dwayne Russell called tonight’s West Coast-Port Adelaide match in Perth. First time this year they commentated an AFL match together, especially given they work for rival radio stations in Melbourne.

Next Saturday Fox Footy will need a fill-in commentator.
Normally on a Saturday they have Dwayne Russell, Adam Papalia, Anthony Hudson and Brenton Speed to call the 4 matches.
However next week Dwayne will be in China for the match on Sunday. Eddie McGuire will also be unavailable Saturday due to Collingwood commitments.

They’ve used Brett Phillips and Matt Granland before.
I think Leigh Montagna is on fox’s books but not sure he’s strong enough to do games on his own yet.
