Yeah suspect they are in the Fox Studios in Sydney
I assume Howie will only commentate as his AFL commitments allow.
You’d assume so, I don’t know who other than BJ would cover for him though? Corbin, Huddo, even Dwayne also AFL occupied, while Jones, Guha in the UK. At least Seven have some depth in their roster with Blewett, Maher, Lisa, etc. No Tom Morris or Adam Peacock anymore.
Or Melbourne? Probably Sydney though yes.
Game also not in 4K. Disappointing effort for an exclusive game to Fox.
Tbf it’s in footy season, I assume there’s no NEP 4K trucks available, especially for a T20I.
Also the sight screen ads are superimposed like the ground ads tonight.
The superimposed sight screen ads are part of a trial by MKTG, as part of its contract extension with CA.
Fox have always made a big deal that all cricket games they produce would be in 4K. I get it’s footy season but my understanding is all NEP OBT’s do 4K now.
I guess it’s the natural next step. Don’t know why they haven’t brought the system the A-Leagues and NZ use with the LED superimposing ads rather than the shaking logos they use currently. The NRL seems to get them smooth enough but in Australia they’re pretty bad imo.
Yeah but that would cost more and again, it’s an August T20.
Doesn’t matter what time of year the game is being played Fox is the host broadcaster they sell subscriptions claiming to broadcast every game of cricket they produce in 4K (there was an ad claiming this during the innings break). That would make it false advertising. Also they are broadcasting to people who pay for sport. The issue of extra cost being?
Where’s Gilchrist? I know it’s a meaningless series, but Fox as the exclusive broadcaster for all limited overs cricket in Australia should be making more effort. This is a sign of things to come for their overall coverage as there’s no way the cricket deal won’t be scrutinized as a waste of cash by DAZN.
Especially since with the new deal 7 is paying less than the original for more content while Fox (DAZN) is paying more for less. Instead of getting rid of AFL(which I think gets better ratings than cricket - except for Ashes, India & Boxing Day 1) , they should look at cricket for cost cutting - maybe giving 7 the ability to simulcast T20 or ODI etc.
Doubt CA or 7 would be overjoyed with that, it could lead to the whole deal being ripped up and CA suffering a loss around 20-25% which could be catastrophic for their finances given the dependence on a couple of series to stay solvent. If anything, it’ll hasten them auctioning off the BBL to India (which is probably gonna happen regardless).
Bright idea, let’s not? Let’s not send BBL the way of the A-League and in the ground
Mistake made by the off tube commentators
They didn’t realise Tim David refused the single, so when he hit a 6, they called it as Dwarshuis hitting it. Also didn’t help them that the graphic thought it was a single too. But Howard should of know it was David since he’s Right handed & Dwarshuis is left handed, if he’s too busy with AFL to do a bit of research, Fox should of used Gilchrist or someone else they have. Could of even had Julian doing the calling
Yeah i detest remote commentary. Yes it’s a money saver but it shows a disconnect. It’s the sort of thing you can get away with on radio but it gets exposed on TV
I can see them doing that when they’re at the ground too TBH
What correlation could you possibly make between the A-Leagues and BBL sales?
