Foxtel Group strengthens domestic cricket coverage in the lead-up to its biggest ‘Summer of Cricket’ ever

Foxtel Group has reconfirmed its long-standing position as the ‘Home of Cricket’ announcing a deal to broadcast and stream multiple domestic cricket matches and series on Foxtel and Kayo Sports. These include the new women’s domestic T20 Competition and Women’s National Cricket League, the Sheffield Shield, the Marsh One Day Cup, all Men and Women’s Aus A matches, Prime Minister’s XI match and Women’s Governor-General’s XI match.

This means subscribers can enjoy varying levels and formats of cricket on Foxtel and Kayo Sports from the elite playing at the biggest stadiums around the country to the stars of tomorrow carving their own path domestically.

Continuing its commitment to showcasing cricket at all levels, the Marsh One Day Cup will be available to watch live and free on Kayo Freebies.

Foxtel Group Director of Content Acquisitions and Sports Partnerships Adam Howarth said: “The upcoming ‘Summer of Cricket’ on Foxtel and Kayo Sports is going to be an absolute cracker, with hundreds of hours of cricket available for our subscribers to enjoy. This new deal champions Australian cricket, from pathways to elite, ensuring viewers can discover and enjoy talent and competitions across different levels and formats, and continues our commitment to working with our sporting partners to increase visibility and grow engagement and fandom.”

Foxtel and Kayo Sports’ ‘Summer of Cricket’ is already underway with the Australian Women’s side clean-sweeping New Zealand in a T20 tournament and the Men’s side beating England in their recent ODI series. Meanwhile, the Sheffield Shield and Women’s National Cricket League has kicked off, the Women’s T20 Spring Challenge is about to debut, and the Australian Men’s team is preparing for a home Pakistan T20 and ODI series.

That sponsorship deal expired in June Foxtel…

Only additions are Women’s A matches, new T20 comp. Rest were there in some form previously (but sure, let’s spruik it like it’s all new). All CN stream simulcast I’m sure.

it is referred to as just “The One Day Cup” now.

Yep, until they rename it at the end of the season after a past player.

SMH has reported that Matt Weiss is leaving Fox Cricket after an investigation into his social media usage

The article

Matt Weiss, Fox Sports’ general manager of Fox Cricket, is leaving the company after more than a decade, including seven years running its cricket broadcasting division, having been linked to a now-deleted social media account used to allegedly abuse colleagues, rivals and prominent media, sports and political figures.

Yes, it’s funny how things go around. Left a lot of bad blood in the old Football division among others based on what those former employees had to say on Twitter when the account was uncovered.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned on here but looks like there will be 33 WBBL broadcast matches on Fox (23 from 7 + 10 Fox produced) and then further 10 CA live streams

The DRS matches will include all 23 broadcast by Seven while another 10 come from the increase in fully produced matches by Fox Sports as part of the reduced tournament length. It means that 77% of matches will have full DRS compared to 41% last season.

It looks like the Fox produced matches will also be broadcast in 4K.

Based on this & a Fox article looks like the WBBL will have 23 matches on FTA + Fox, 10 matches on CA free live stream + Kayo freebies & 10 matches exclusive to Fox & Kayo.

This means 33 of 43 matches are a proper tv broadcast - a great outcome for CA & WBBL

Where does it say that?

On the link you shared in the Foxtel 4K thread!

Nothing important but just find it funny that a Fox cricket commentator replied to a 7cricket post when Fox cricket posted the exact same (earlier than 7)

The yet-to-be-renamed One Day Domestic Cup resumes today with three matches, with Victoria v NSW to air live on Fox Cricket from Junction Oval in Melbourne, where a second Shane Warne Stand (the first one is at the MCG) will be unveiled. The afternoon session will be shown on Fox Sports 505, while Fox Cricket shows the second test between India and New Zealand.

Interesting to see the women’s ODI between India and New Zealand is airing on Main Event 2 (channel 522) this evening.
