Hosting the Big Bash from GIANTS stadium
And you would assume the entire finals series of BBL.
NZ?
No thanks…
Just listen to the difference between these two calls:
BJ: https://x.com/FoxCricket/status/1747499987078975629?s=20
Tim Lane: https://x.com/7Cricket/status/1747499169541918954?s=20
BJ’s been commentating for 20 years now and he’s not improved a tick from when he first started out.
I’m not a huge fan of BJ’s commentary but that was far from his worst. Tim Lane’s however was perfect for the occasion, that’s the quality we should be getting on Fox given we pay for it. Take note Steve Crawley…
Sheesh, it’s like the work experience kid v the old pro. The problem is, as pointed out above, BJ has been doing this for a long time.
Certainly no Bill Lawry in either of those calls
There could only be one Bill, that’s not an indictment of any sports commentator working today.
There is a reason why Nine never picked him up to commentate on the WWOS…
I see Tim Lane has caught James Brayshaw’s shouting disease
But his is tasteful, JB’s is just screaming.
Nice to hear Allan Border back on commentary today. I don’t think he’s been seen this summer since revealing his Parkinsons diagnosis?
I wonder if Allan Border will be well enough to travel to Melbourne, to present the medal named after him at the Australian Cricket Awards next Wednesday?
Fox using Seven vision and graphics but with own commentary (from Sydney studio) for the women’s Test in Perth. Megan Barnard hosting with Alex Blackwell and Rachael Haynes (sometimes from the literal studio and sometimes just from the commentary box camera), Julia Price also on expert duties with Isa Guha and Mel Jones added for calling. Jason Behrendorff on boundary and interview duties.
Cricket summer is finished and Fox cricket Twitter account immediately (accidentally) posts an NRL video
Hoping for a graphics revamp in 2024/25. Fox Cricket continues with the PSL later tonight into the IPL next month
I don’t think Fox will change their cricket graphics unless they revamp ‘Fox’ as it’s a match with their whole branding from NRL to AFL etc.
Brendon Julian has crossed the Tasman for the T20 series against New Zealand to join the TVNZ coverage - will be interesting to see if he stays for the tests or if someone else heads over.
Brad Haddin will link up with him for the tests.
