Poor NZ.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear BJ on the cricket last night. I always enjoy his work (and usually find myself in the minority on here!)
The 2023/24 Marsh Cup One-Day Final between NSW and WA will be shown live on Fox Sports 505 tomorrow (Sunday) at 9.50am AEDT. The match will take place at Cricket Central in Sydney Olympic Park with the first ball at 10.05am AEDT.
Fox Cricket 501 has the third and final T20 match between New Zealand and Australia followed by India v England fourth test at the same time.
Is it just stream level quality?
I don’t know who TVNZ signed but this isn’t the BJ I know! In all seriousness I think he’s shining as an analyst - not as a caller. Doesn’t sound spent or bored, instead giving insightful analysis.
EDIT: I know he’s doing some calling but it’s a different format to Fox’s coverage, with just the one expert I’d compare it to Nine’s AO coverage.
I saw the Marsh Cup final highlights on YouTube during the week and it was just stream level quality.
That could be the last we see of that Tito guy after that trainwreck of a interview, lol. Someone from Mediaspy whoever that was, he managed to twice mention Ian Smith, SENZ and “make commentary great again”. haha
How do you know he was from MediaSpy? I didn’t see it
I must have missed it - I did catch an interview with someone dressed as a hot dog though
He had a massive beard, does that help?
Doesn’t really narrow it down in Wellington…they’re pretty much all greenies with beards
Every interview that bloke has done has been cringeworthy…
I am pretty confident that it’s being done so TVNZ can access Te Mangai Paho (Maori broadcasting funding agency) money .
So they have 1 caller & 1 analyst?
Yep. Except the last over of the day (as they don’t have any presentation post day anymore they have the wrap up from the comms box).
Fox Cricket will broadcast the 2023/24 Sheffield Shield Final between WA and Tasmania, live from WACA Ground in Perth, this Thursday (March 21) from 12.45pm AEDT. Play starts at 1pm AEDT (10am AWST).
And it looks like there will be no TV coverage of the Bangladesh-Australia women’s cricket series, which starts on the same day with the first ODI from Mirpur, unless a late deal can be reached with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Will be on YouTube then I guess. FYI don’t watch it on the TV app as it input ads at random times during the broadcast.
The Australian season will start with three one-day matches and three T20 internationals against Pakistan in November.
David Warner is currently negotiating a new two-year contract with the Sydney Thunder which would fit around his Fox Sports commentary commitments at the five Tests.
Same old story. Cricket Boards want to sell rights as a multi-year package. FTA networks have never wanted these packages and Fox Sports appears to be cutting back.
