Fox Cricket

I’d just love Fox or Seven to make the call and do it

They’d be getting the input in the Australia format so they’d need CA to change first.

I’m currently getting a “No Foxtel TV Signal” error on my iq5 on Fox Cricket ch501. All other Fox Sports channels working fine. Bit frustrating having to watch the start of the test on 7

Interesting to hear Fox in their Matt Nable hype video in the buildup label their commentary team as the best-credentialed and most-inclusive commentary team in history.

I suppose it depends on what you are comparing it to. If we are talking all time, I think the ICC tournament commentary teams certainly in recent times would have them covered on both counts. But if you are talking only in Australia, they might be right.

On a different note, the superimposed on-field advertising intitially displayed the NRMA logo, but has since been changed to the test series logo and “Proud helpers of Australian cricket” slogan, similar to previous years given NRMA does not operate in Victoria. There is also square of wicket advertising for the Big Bash app, which seems to be new for this test.

It’s a little bit sad that they see the latter as something to make noise about - but let’s be honest, it’s something that we generally do poorly locally.

Indeed. I do think Fox has been better for getting more of the world view this season and last. It was getting rather parochial at times.

X/XXX not XXX/X is the proper way

The opportunity to do that without too much damage was when they first got the rights. After 40+ years of Nine, Fox and Seven could have done that together and maybe even promoted the change.

Cricket Australia could make the call but they do it X/XXX as well.

Yeah - I suspect it’ll never change. I agree that if they’d sold it as one of their changes when taking the rights it would have been fine.

Is Mike Hussey no longer a Fox commentator exclusively? Was commentating on Seven before…

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame so was discussing it with Seven.

After a three-hour rain delay this afternoon, play at today’s Australia-Pakistan test will resume at 5.10pm AEDT with 26.2 overs to be bowled. Stumps is at 7pm.
Given the first of BBL doubleheader (Sixers v Stars) is scheduled for 6.05pm AEDT, it will be interesting to see how the two overlapping matches will be covered live.

Fox Cricket lost their clean DRS feed and had to switch to Seven’s:

7 had the 3rd umpire explain her decision, did Fox get the same opportunity? Or was 7 given it since they are the world feed

Wasn’t on Fox at any stage from what I saw.

Fox probably shouldn’t of had people who had done the whole day of test cricket commentate the match in Perth which started at 9:30pm for their Melbourne based commentators

This video was getting ripped on social media for the lacklustre commentary.

While 7 was also not at the ground, they used ‘fresh’ commentators

I saw the Scorchers-Renegades match highlights on YouTube this morning. Michael Vaughan, Ian Smith and Brad Haddin were the commentators.

I agreed that Vaughan’s commentary was lacklustre and quite repetitive. He used the phrase “straight to the fielder” too many times during the Scorchers’ innings when the batters were dismissed caught at the outfield.
