Hope it’s been given the boot. A relic of the 1980s.
They still have a more subdued 3D animated duck (that they brought in with the new Fox Sports black graphics) but they may not even use that in the tests anymore.
For BBL it might be OK, but it doesn’t really make too much sense in test cricket coverage anymore - we see a lot more from overseas now who never referred to getting out without scoring as a “duck” in any case, so it won’t be a big loss.
Foxtel and Kayo will broadcast Australia women’s team’s tour of India this summer, which includes a one-off test, three ODIs and three T20s, under new captain Alyssa Healy. Coverage will be spread across Fox Cricket and Fox Sports channels, due to BBL and Australia v Pakistan men’s test broadcasts in the same period.
Live coverage of the test match from Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium starts this Thursday (December 21) at 2.50pm AEDT.

December 21-24: Test match, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Been watching the cricket from New Zealand on FOX CRICKET and was curious why Ian Smith is commentating exclusively for FOX Sports Australia and not commentating in New Zealand?
I think Smithy has/had an exclusive contract with SKY Sport, and with Spark/TVNZ having the rights, he obviously isn’t able to work with them.
Isn’t the current broadcaster SKY NZ?
He no longer works for Sky, but yeah that’s how it started. Sky lost the cricket rights to Spark from 2020-21 and Sky retained him as a rugby sideline commentator and cricket show panellist.
However he parted ways with Sky at the end of last year - leaving him balancing his time between SENZ, Fox and ICC events.
Fox essentially got him on board last summer after Shane Warne died and he also does some stints for SEN over there.
Thanks for that!
Cheers legend.
If I recall correctly, might have burnt the bridge on the way out too
Certainly his departure statement didn’t leave much ambiguity.
Ineed - Ian has also been doing stints for SEN during these Aus/Pak tests so they are getting something out of his SENZ contract too. I don’t know whether he would’ve stayed here given SENZ are covering the Blackcaps ODIs against Bangladesh now.
He’s not commentating these games for SENZ I can tell you that.
Yep he’s not involved with that (which they are calling all matches from the Wellington studios).
Not quite.
They’re calling from a mix of their studios (Christchurch and Auckland also being used). They did Christchurch women’s game from the ground though. Seems a bit messy as to which they are doing OT and which from grounds.
Harsha Bhogle commentating the MCG & SCG tests. That mean Fox has min 5 play by play callers for those matches.
And they are also using 3 other international commentators not related to the country that’s playing this summer (excluding Isa as she is a main member for their commentary team)
Can someone at Fox remind him he needs to read out the score the Australian way.
First Ravi Shastri, now Harsha Bhogle. Both from India for a Australia v Pakistan series. What’s the story?
Personally it is a non issue. What does it matter?
Nah, we need to adapt to the way the rest of the world does it.
How about we go back to the proper way to express the score
