Fox Cricket

That would make sense, however the actual match commentary is the same as for the Australian series (by the PCB in English) with the wrap around coverage being done from the UK by Sky.

These vids made me realise that both Virtual eye used by Fox + DRS & Hawkeye used by 7 are present for the Tests.

I think they have both because it’s difficult for the same provider to work for 2 different broadcasters needing seperate things during the broadcast.

Otherwise there is no need to have both providers

New Fox Cricket intro for Tests? I’m pretty sure it’s new. An expanded version of the one used for the recent ODIs.

Also where is Daddles the Duck? he was not seen for the dismissals of Joshua Da Silva and Kemar Roach.

Poor daddles :see_no_evil: I only see saddles spreading himself across the screen when someone is out for a duck yeah? Did these blokes get out for a duck?

They did, yes:

I don’t think he makes it to Tests nowadays. Scaled back his commitments to T20s to spend more time with his family

I have a feeling Fox may have retired it out of respect for Shane Warne. Warnie did the sound recordings for it. As in he made the duck sounds for it.

I suspected this would be the case.

It’s also exceedingly lame and feels like a relic from the 1980s, so I’m not sad to see the back of it.

Did he? For the Nine version?

The PCB have uploaded today’s post-day wrap on their youtube channel:

News Corp has revealed some new members of the Fox Cricket commentary team for the forthcoming Big Bash season.

Fox Footy’s Anthony Hudson and Fox League’s Dan Ginnane will call matches this season, alongside current players including David Warner, Adam Zampa, Aaron Finch, Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, Mitch Marsh and Alyssa Healy.

Dan I can understand, he called an ODI or two earlier this summer.

Has he ever called cricket before?

EDIT: I’ll answer my own question. He’s called for SEN at least:

Huddo has been calling test cricket on SEN the last 3 summers or so. He also did some cricket commentary 10+ years ago on SEN when they broadcasted an international series or two.

Dan Ginnane did commentary for most (if not all) tests for Triple M last summer too. He’s back on the Ms again this summer.

I am surprised it has taken this long!

I am also surprised BT or Hamish haven’t commentated BBL for Seven yet.

BT commentated cricket during his days on Fox Sports

BT has been quoted to say he admitted he wasn’t very good at cricket commentary when he tried the BBL on Fox.

So it’s hard to see him giving it another go or even using Hamish McLachlan given Seven have plenty of others with cricket credentials like Alastair Nicholson and Abbey Gelmi.

Has there been any word on Michael Vaughan coming back this summer? IIRC his contract was put on hold - but perhaps Ian Smith has been added as his replacement?

Back on this, For the BBL i assume there needs to be consistency with the same technologies used for all games. But 7 uses Hawkeye + Ultra Edge while Fox uses virtual eye + RTS, so I wonder which will be used for the BBL reviews.

Maybe they do use both, with 7 produced games using Hawkeye + Ultra Edge & 16 exclusive Fox games using Virtual Eye + RTS
