Unpopular opinion. This is a good thing.10 finally realised that streaming is not only the future but the place to be right now
My biggest problem with shifting this show to streaming is if it isn’t replaced with another drama, since 10 and Paramount+ would have different budgets it shouldn’t affect 10 commissioning another local drama to take its place.
The other benefit for commissioning for their linear channel is that they can retain second window rights for their streaming service which can also be secured for worldwide Paramount+ audiences too.
At best they only have How to Stay Married, With Intent and second window rights to My Life is Murder for this year so 1 more is really needed to fill the post 8:30 timeslot following Bachelor in winter.
Five Bedrooms Have The Keys To A New Home.
Five Bedrooms Season Two Streaming Exclusively On Paramount+ From Wednesday, 11 August 2021.
Our Five Bedrooms housemates are moving to a flashy new neighbourhood called Paramount+. They pick up the keys on Wednesday, 11 August.
There’s a new home. A DIY renovation. A DIY renovation injury. Two pregnancies. An ex-husband. A workplace bullying complaint. An unexpected tragedy. Love found and love lost.
This was not what our five had imagined for their lives. This is Australian drama at its best.
Five Bedrooms joins a mountain of entertainment on Paramount+ that is guaranteed to peak your interest on Wednesday, 11 August.
There’s Australian original Spreadsheet , A-lister blockbuster Infinite , iconic revival series iCarly , coming-of-age feature 6 Festivals , and John Ibrahim’s televised autobiography, Last King Of The Cross .
I really can’t believe 10 gave up such a strong drama that suits the 10 brand to the streaming service.
And I somehow doubt that this series will be compelling enough to draw the viewers to the service. The Secret She Keeps would’ve been more suited to Paramount+ if they had to choose a drama series to air exclusively on there.
Or they could commission another new drama for this service instead of shunting one of their best dramas to a streaming service exclusively.
I also still think it was a mistake to air Five Bedrooms on Paramount+. Should have aired an exclusive and NEW drama to air there instead of this show. It was one of Ten’s best dramas in recent years…
Have they said whether its going to forever be a Paramount+ exclusive?
Could they air it on 10 next year like the ABC does with some BBC content that airs first on Foxtel?
Going by what TV Tonight wrote a while ago, I’d say that’s probably the case. Otherwise they would’ve said that Five Bedrooms would premiere on 10 first before going on P+ or the other way round. But they only mentioned moving to P+ which sounds like exclusivity.
I was looking forward to series 2 but not enough to make me want to sign up to P+
Makes sense to me. It’s a global trend. People prefer to consume premium drama on streaming platforms ad free.
They need to embrace that at some point.
The strategy of putting a known drama with critical acclaim on a streamer is in line with what people expect from streaming company
Kat Stewart features on the cover of Stellar magazine this Sunday, ahead of season 2 premiere on Paramount+ on August 11.
Been wondering this, nice to see but honesty expected a weekly drop to keep people subscribed over a number of weeks.
Season 1 of this show is now airing on 10Peach at 1pm weekdays if anyone is interested…
Weekly drop might’ve pissed off people more considering it’s going to streaming from FTA.
No doubt they’ll consider it for other series like Spreadsheet, in line with the overseas versions strategy for some series.
LOL I mean if they already made the call to strip it from FTA and place on a streamer I don’t know that they really care about pissing off people more.
That said, I will be watching and Paramount+ has enough outside of this to warrant a sub for me.
Beverley McGarvey has told TV Tonight that season 2 will not air on 10 in the short term but adds:
Something like Five Bedrooms that started on 10 will most likely get a run on 10.
Season 2 Launching today, although the show’s official Instagram page last posted about the show October 2020, so little promotion there for fans/followers.
Now where can I get a free trial of paramount+…
Yeah they’ve really neglected the page, but doubt it will be active now that it’s on a streamer - it should just be merged with Paramount+ page.
Anyone can sign up for free 7 day trial.
