Question about the ratings - since so many big screens are covering the game as well, if there were significant numbers there and the numbers at each venue are known and not watching at homes, is there a way that information can be calculated and factored into the ratings?

Those numbers aren’t calculated in TV ratings. The screens are tuned to Optus, so not relevant to Seven’s numbers.

Yes - AFL has always been scheduled on 7Mate.

Yes. The AFL has been scheduled for 7Mate in those cities.

I wonder if Seven will persist with a one-hour news in Sydney and Brisbane, given the “late” start. Especially if it will be a shoot-out, finishing at 7.45pm-ish.

Hard to know how much news was produced across the day today for the bulletin. I would say very little.

The preliminary ratings numbers tomorrow are probably not going to make a lot of sense.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Seven code the penalty shootout as a separate program in the final ratings in an attempt to get close to some of the record breaking sporting events of the past.

If the news is so important, why haven’t they pulled out the weekday presenters? Would be better just giving it a miss tonight now, otherwise there would be even more backlash from AFL supporters

Brilliant Game! Unfortunately that the game wasn’t shown live free to air in NZ but Prime’s FTA coverage began at 10 pm NZT for QF4 which was being shown. Because coverage was a simulcast of Sky Sport’s Coverage it joined as penalties were happening which meant the winning final penalty shot was shown live + post match celebrations.
