Fetch TV

I see that all the Harry Potter movies are currently in Fetch Movie Box.

Yep, have been appearing over the last couple of weeks. I’ve finally watched one of them, I got sick of everyone telling me I had to watch them 20 years ago or read them so I decided not to. Thought it was finally time I see what it’s all about. Now need to finish all of them before they disappear.

Same. I’m holding out. Never read one of the books or seen any of the Harry Potter movies. Perhaps I’ll catch up during retirement when I have nothing better to do. I’m sure I would’ve been into it if the books had been around when I was a kid but as an adult the subject matter never appealed. Too busy dealing with the horrors of real life by the time these came out.

I relented and watched the first Lord of the Rings movie last year. I’d read the books 30-40 years ago but didn’t want my childhood imagination of the stories tainted by someone else’s view of that world. The film was OK but I haven’t had any desire to watch the remaining titles in the series.

I never intended to watch them because really it didn’t interest me but I hosted a HP themed quiz night last year and tried to watch them before I ran that but didn’t get a chance. I can say the questions made a lot more sense now!

Can anyone help me out with this problem?

I have a Series Tag on Entertainment Tonight which Ten screens every afternoon at 2.30pm and repeats at 7am.

The problem is that they only show part of the episode in the afternoon because of the reality show overruns. So I need to record the next morning’s screening to get the rest of the show.

I have to delete the afternoon screening because the morning screening has the same title and Fetch won’t record the same show twice.

All was good until recently. Even though I have been deleting the afternoon screening from Fetch, the morning screening no longer records. Is it somehow still in the memory even though it is deleted? I’ve tried deleting the tag and setting it up again but it’s made no difference. Any ideas?

With Young Sheldon on Nine and Victoria on BBC First I found that deleting an episode means that the Fetch will record it again. I had to constantly delete Victoria episodes until I turned off the series tag. Maybe there is something in the Fetch that means it doesn’t re-record recently recorded programs??

That’s the way I expect it to work and I’m OK with that. It’s what allowed me to record the episode again after I had deleted the first (edited) screening.

I know other shows will record again after I’ve deleted them because it’s happened before with Graham Norton or other often repeated shows on Ten.

Interestingly, I was checking my Fetch app on my phone and under My Stuff there are old episodes which I have deleted. They no longer appear in Recordings on Fetch. I can play them on my TV from my app. I never knew this before. I wonder if this storage method is affecting repeat recordings.

And related to this, I just found a feature on my Fetch box which i haven’t noticed before. Under Recordings, there’s a Recently Deleted tab with about 50 shows. You can restore these to your Recorded tab.

I don’t know if this is new.

That’s new. I remember reading a post from them on Facebook about it in the most recent update.

I thought so. It’s great. I wish we had this a few months back. I’ve had a few accidental deletions like the full season of Wanted. :open_mouth:

I’m convinced now that this new feature must treat these Recent Deletions as if they are still a recording. So it won’t record a repeat until it is out of the recent 50 or is deleted out of that list too.

Yep, the deleted recordings part was only added in the new update last week. I’d actually write to Fetch and let them know what you’ve discovered and that the episodes of ET in particular are different due to overruns and that’s why you record the morning versions, they might have a workaround or at least could look at developing something else to work that request too.

Thanks @ando9185. That makes sense now. It’s only been a problem this week. I was actually thinking about contacting them.

I’ve had them help me with a couple of things before. Their responses were quite good.

Yeah, I’m pretty happy with their support, I had one issue which ended up resolving itself mainly because I couldn’t get them things they required - for about a year half the WIN channels were missing for some weird reason. Their facebook support is pretty good too.

I got a response back already.

As I suspected, the problem is due to deleted files being stored in the Recently Deleted tab/folder. Apparently this is how they want it to work. As I thoight, the advice given is delete it twice and it will record the repeat.

Normally, shows are not partly edited and if they are they should have a different title in the EPG. So it’s all Ten’s fault.

Yep, this was the bit where I thought they’d be an issue. It’s the part that makes it a unique situation. Only way around it from Fetch’s side would be to compare the times but since it’s likely shorter but the EPG isn’t updated that wouldn’t work either so really it’s up to Ten.

Nice pickup though, would never have thought of that scenario.

I’m having an issue where Weekend Sunrise won’t record on Sunday. It records Saturday (and if that’s watched and deleted the Sunday ep records) but if a Saturday recording is already in there, it won’t record Sunday. Any ideas?

Must be the same problem I was having. Seven must be describing Weekend Sunrise the same way for Saturday and Sunday so Fetch thinks its the same program. They need to describe the episodes with individual numbers like The Project does S10.149.

Has anyone else had this problem with there Fetch Box twice in the last couple of days it tells me I have an internet problem and I have to unplug it or press reset than it is good as gold again?

Not now but that has happened from time to time in the past. Haven’t had to power off. It just fixes itself.
