The Leaders debate on this Sunday has now appeared on schedules of ABC and ABC News 24, but there have been no changes on the commercial networks listings (yet) to accommodate the debate.
Meanwhile, Federal Treasurer Scott Morrison and Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen will have their own debate at the National Press Club at lunchtime Friday. It will be shown live at 12.30pm AEST on ABC News 24, and live on ABC in the eastern states.
Any news as to whether or not commercial FTAs are covering the first ever debate of the election campaign.

On Sunday night, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the Leader of the Opposition Bill Shorten go head to head in the Leaders’ Debate.
LIVE from the National Press Club in Canberra the leaders will champion their plans for the future of the nation.
The debate will be moderated by Chris Uhlmann, ABC Political Editor & President of the National Press Club of Australia.
Leaders will be questioned by a panel of three senior federal parliamentary journalists: Laura Tingle (Australian Financial Review), Andrew Probyn (The West Australian) and Ellen Whinnett (Herald Sun).
*On ABC the 7.30pm broadcast is LIVE in eastern states, delayed in SA & NT (airing after the 7pm ABC News bulletin). In WA the broadcast is LIVE at 5.30pm on ABC.

We’ll talk to ex workers and community groups about the future of the town, as well as take a look at diversifying the “iron triangle”. ABC North and West (Port Pirie) Breakfast Show will also be broadcasting nearby.
Tuesday May 31 - Elizabeth SA
With the closure of the Holden plant, what does the future hold for Adelaide’s Northern suburbs? Industry Minister Christopher Pyne will join us as our guest. AM reporter, Michael Edwards looks at what new industries are taking shape and talks to a former automaker who now builds bikes. Natalie Whiting follows Port Power team members as they mentor and motivate disengaged students in Adelaide’s North.
Wednesday June 1 - Mt Barker SA
The electorate of Mayo has only had two members: Alexander Downer and Jamie Briggs. Could a Xenophon candidate become the third? Independent Senator Nick Xenophon will be our guest. AM speaks to local community members about the issues affecting them and finds out what they hoping for this election. AM reporter Felicity Ogilvie investigates a stoush going on in the mountain bike trails at Derby – a town being revitalised by tourism after the forest industry has collapsed. Some locals have been opposing forestry logging near the trails.
Friday June 3 - Burnie TAS
While the electorate of Braddon is mostly agricultural, the population centre of Burnie is grappling with high unemployment and increasing levels of poverty. What’s needed to give Burnie a boost? Senator Jacquie Lambie will be our guest. Michael Edwards looks at how the demands on charities are climbing as residents find it more difficult to get by. Felicity Ogilvie investigates how Tasmania was chosen as one of the first places in the country to get the NBN but a Burnie Software company is still waiting. The internet bill for the business will drop by $30,000/year with the NBN. On the west coast, the NBN service will now be delivered via satellite and locals are not pleased.
The debate will be simulcast live on Sky News from 7.30pm AEST. Sky News will have its pre-event coverage from 4pm AEST and analysis after the debate.
And the ratings were particularly dire. Ratings were a fifth at 8.30 of what they were at 7.30.

It was a bad format!
It wasn’t that the format was bad. The problem was Turnbull & Shorten were incapable of answering a question directly without using campaign slogans
because the format sucks, it was basically a press conference. you get those answers in those circumstances.
No it absolutely was a bad format, which allowed for bad showing on the leaders behalf.

Leading ABC TV’s live and continuous coverage will be host Leigh Sales, Political Editor Chris Uhlmann and ABC Election Analyst Antony Green. Some of the ABC’s best political minds – Annabel Crabb, Barrie Cassidy and Michael Rowland – will provide expert analysis and commentary throughout the night as the numbers come in. There will be crosses to the Coalition and Labor Party headquarters with ABC News Political Correspondent Greg Jennett and 7.30 Political Correspondent Sabra Lane.
Guest political panellists are the Treasurer Scott Morrison and Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Senator Penny Wong.

They should find something else than The Project. The ratings for 2013 Election were diabolical. If I was Ten, I wouldn’t go with The Project due to the fact of the ratings and the main channel share was just above 6%. TEN News team should be given a go.
The Election Project was a complete disaster in 2013, why bring it back?

Personally, I would just be thankful that Ten are even going to the trouble of doing some form of proper Federal Election coverage on July 2. I was seriously expecting them to just run normal programing with updates through the night like what happened with the QLD and NSW State Elections last year!
