I never said I was - am I not allowed to have an opinion?
I had Chicken Treat for lunch today whilst here in WA. Had been wanting to try it.
Had a Baconry Wrap (with chicken) and small chips. It was just only okay.
“At Macca’s, we’re committed to serving great tasting, great value food that Aussies know and love,” a spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle.
"We regularly review and evolve our menu to keep it exciting and focused on what matters most to our customers.
“As part of this, we’re currently trialling the temporary removal of McCafé Toasties, Banana Bread and Raisin Toast from a small number of restaurants across NSW and Victoria.”
“These items remain available in the majority of restaurants across the country, and no decision has been made about any permanent menu changes,” the McDonald’s spokesperson added.
“We welcome customer feedback throughout the trial and look forward to hearing what they’d like to see on our menu in the future.”
The one in Moss Vale still has those items, not sure about Mittagong though.
Had this Cocktail Fish Pack from The Swordfish Co at Warners Bay on Saturday night. Had gone out there for a show and had dinner beforehand here.
Was nice but they could have drained it a little bit longer.
Also sadly it would seem it’s harder to find a humble Fish and Chip Shop that still make their chips fresh from potatoes as opposed to using frozen ones.
A lot of the older demographic like these items. A lot of grandparents usually take their grandchildren to McDonald’s and might choose these items.
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal had overturned Darebin Council’s refusal to grant a permit to McDonald’s to open a new restaurant on High Street, Northcote in Melbourne’s north.
McDonald’s will discontinue its McSmart value meal on June 30 this year. The $6.95 meal, which was introduced two years ago, includes a cheeseburger, small fries, and small soft drink, as well as your choice of a chicken ‘n’ cheese, small sundae, three-piece chicken McNuggets, or a cheeseburger.
Melbourne cafe institution Marios will celebrate its 40th birthday today.
I never really understood why such a big deal has been made of this. There used to be a Hungry Jacks on High Street not too much further down towards Thornbury.
Currently back in Perth for winter. I went to Dave & Busters in Clarkson and it’s quite bit different to the normal sports bars you go to watch the footy. Bit like Varsity and Timezone mixed into one. Good to see US chains like Dave & Busters and Chuck E Cheese choose Perth over say QLD where most other overseas brands always launch.
Any news on Wendy’s Australian expansion? Seems to moving along very slowly.
After 16 months, there still seems to be only two stores open (Gold Coast and Brisbane CBD). What happened to the Melbourne location that was expected to open a short time back?
The Bayswater site (where someone took a picture of the signage before it was removed) still looks like a construction site. Thats despite all the other businesses in the area being up and running.
If you search on their website for jobs it looks like maybe a store in Dandenong will open soon.
Edit: looks like one in Seaford, Dandenong South and “Southeast Melbourne”
I’m not sure the Bayswater North store is proceeding. It was posted about 9 months ago. But from what you just said, I found out construction is taking place on a Dandenong Store. And yes you are right there is another being built at Seaford.
Establishing a food chain or even a single restaurant is tough and if it’s got international backing the risk is connected to x10. The Asian financial crisis got me in the 90s, two thirds of the capital gone almost over night and then had to pay for work done. At this time with all the instability I’d not progress much. The local chippy or small business would appreciate your patronage.
Guzman y Gomez has shut down its eight Chicago stores and pulled the plug on its ambitions to conquer the American market after years of spending tens of millions of dollars and defending it as a long-term investment.
The burrito chain’s founder Steve Marks said on Friday that despite his efforts to turn around the chain’s US expansion, the Australian-born Mexican burrito seller was not hitting the sales targets needed to justify the investment. “Having spent the last three months in the US, I realised this was going to take significantly more time and capital than we had expected,” Marks said in a statement to the ASX.
The Guzman US tilt was akin to Starbucks trying its luck here. We do coffee much better than burritos. Almost the first concept one learns in economics is comparative advantage so it’s amazing how often people forget this lesson. We are never going to beat the US at Tex Mex.
Given comparative burrito quality, expanding in Japan more might make sense.
Uh oh, I don’t think so expansion in Australia would be way easier than Japan. So America was a fail. Move on Japan is a super tough challenge. The exchange rate at the moment makes it looks good but it will dive.
Head first concrete style. Build a strong Aussie brand then sell it to others don’t try to teach a food country how to suck eggs.
