Fast Food/Takeaways and Restaurants

I don’t mean to be a Debbie downer again - but could we at least put the gist of the article in the post?

So tired of all the clickbait.

Chef and media personality Adrian Richardson will close his Melbourne bistro La Luna in August.

Very sad to see it closing. I’m from Sydney but I have visited that restaurant a few years back and the food was delicious. Is Good Chef Bad Chef still on Ten?

Yes but Adrian no longer hosts it.

So Hungry Jack’s is trying to create a classier restaurant experience at Melbourne Airport and has rebranded the logo as HJ’S

Heard WilAnderson taking the piss of this rebrand on Fitzy and Wippa’s show on Nova this morning. He said that he hopes pepple won’t misconstrue what HJ stands for in HJ’s. And lucky the restaurant is not called Burger Jack’s because BJ’s would be even worse. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I notice HJ’s ands Maccas are both moving into new stores at the Flinders St end of Swanston St in Melbourne’s CBD.

don’t you mean the Burger King? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hungry Jack’s and McDonald’s both used to have stores at that part of Swanston Street, until they were closed a few years ago to make way for the Metro Tunnel project.

Does that mean HJ and Maccas are closing their existing stores at the Flinders Street end of Elizabeth Street, near the tram terminus?

That is the thought I had when I saw the stores under construction. Not much going on down that way.

The hoarding has come down and the new Maccas is quite a large store. 2 levels. The giant M stands out on Swanston St for sure.

Has the McDonalds store on Russell Street/Bourke St closed? I was in Chinatown a few weeks ago and I could see the McDonalds was opened but the Hungry Jacks had closed interestingly. Possibly due to the distance between the new stores?

The Hungry Jack’s store at the corner of Russell Street and Bourke Street had been closed since COVID pandemic began four years ago. I think multiple factors led to HJ’s decision to close the store permanently, including new store at La Trobe Street/Elizabeth Street, difficulty in recruiting staff, and also safety issue in that part of Melbourne CBD (Chinatown / Russell Street) on Friday and Saturday nights.
