Didn’t know that… Always thought HJs still had fries.
I haven’t been there for ages
Hmm… the HJ Texan chicken burgers look appealing too…

Yeah I know they hate it. However as someone who lives off fast food and spends a metric shit ton of money on it, I don’t see it as unreasonable to expect hot food. Since you can’t rely on that with a “normal” order I had to make sure it happens every time and this way it does.
I am normally pretty accommodating with people with most things since I don’t like to inconvenience anyone, but food is another story If I wanted shit food I would attempt to cook myself
Yep. BK and HJ’s switched. They are really good.
To be fair, I worked there in the days when we didn’t ‘park’ cars so it used to destroy our drive thru times lol
I don’t like how they are coated to try make them ‘crispy’. It’s a cheat. Like how they use microwaves for half their sh*t. Best chips (fresh) are Oporto, followed by Red Rooster and then KFC if they’re having a good day.
Oporto chips are nice too, but always really salty.
Haven’t really had that problem with Oporto but KFC can be really bad sometimes, either all or nothing
They stopped this many years ago. And having worked there for many years, it was only to complete the cooking process and assist in melting cheese etc.
Probably because they only cleaned them once a day or something like that.
I had the new Hungry Jacks Texan Grilled Chicken burger for lunch yesterday during a day trip to Wollongong in the aptly named suburb of Fairy Meadow!
It was very nice, sadly it was quite small though, and they look nothing like the ones in the ads! Was smothered in sauce, but then presentation is never a fast food strong point though.
And the chips! One word …. YUM! They are probably at the top of the list for fast food chips/fries for me now.
But it’s back to being healthy for me for a while now and having Subway for my “fast food” fixes.
“The safety and well-being of our people and customers is our top priority,” a McDonald’s spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.
“In response to recent incidents, McDonald’s restaurants in Melbourne’s east and south have implemented a number of proactive safety measures to ensure the ongoing protection of our people and customers. This includes asking customers to use cashless payment methods where possible.
Seriously. People will ‘backlash’ for the sake of it these days.
Although I dislike places being exclusively cashless (i know it will be like that everywhere sooner than expected), but i can understand that Maccas being cashless between midnight and 6am. There’s “more incidents” at that time of night, It’s a storm in a teacup with the comments online.
I also understand why McDonald’s has implemented these measures. Although the company didn’t mention what the “incidents” were, everyone knows they were the robberies which hit several stores across Melbourne in the past couple of years.
I saw this last month… I presume this is merely trying to distinguish the store as an upmarket bar type thing, due to the “being able to serve alcohol” thing (which… doesn’t really work at the time I saw it, which was during breakfast ).
I wouldn’t read too much else into it yet - although with how much some of the premium burgers cost at HJs now, they just about almost are encroaching on pub prices, so they might as well try it… and of course airside at an airport is the perfect place to try it.
Japanese restaurant and retail chain Calia closed its two Melbourne restaurants (at Emporium and Chadstone) on December 28, with more than 100 workers losing their jobs.
Pineapple fritters have landed at Maccas for the first time, as part of its new summer menu

First potato scallops, now pineapple fritters. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maccas did retro Chiko Rolls next.
What’s next? Them bringing back the Hula Burger?
maybe their plan is to do every single side from the fish and chips shops
