Merry Chickmas! Red Rooster lands with a cheeky new Christmas burger
25 Days of Christmas is back!
I don’t think loving sugar is a generational trait.
There’s a couple of stores due before Clarkson, which is third likely to open at this stage.
I completely agree. It’s one of the things I miss about Australia and is literally the first place I go to whenever I visit.
There’s one as soon as you enter the domestic terminal in Sydney after you take the transfer bus from the international terminal. Everyone else takes off running for their next flight and there’s me going for Red Rooster before worrying about anything else.
While the quality of most other fast food has gotten worse over the years Red Rooster has improved theirs. It’s so good.
Now I’m hungry.
I used to like their fish wraps, but they didn’t do them all the time then seemingly got rid of them.
In Cranbourne park there’s Wendy’s ice creams
I’m referring to the company’s reporting not your perception.

The Chickmas Burger is currently only available in eight locations in NSW: Bomaderry, Carlton, Ermington, Gregory Hills, Guildford, Mount Ousley, St Clair and Wentworthville.
Those must be test locations for this new burger.
I’d say so, interesting how it’s NSW only at the moment.
Leaving things a bit late to be testing a ‘Christmas’ burger aren’t they?
Maybe it will be be like those Christmas radio stations on digital radio, that in some cases are on all year round!

I’m aware, but even so - testing a Christmas burger at the end of Nov/start of Dec is odd.
It was part of their 25 days of Christmas campaign. If it works this year, they can run it nationwide next year.
Ah that makes sense. I’m just cranky coz I saw the ad and thought I might like to try it, but I’m in Melbs

I couldn’t agree more!
Today I tried the Picklebird Burger box and was super impressed. The burger itself was decent and super tasty for a takeaway store. I must also say that the Fried chicken does taste a lot better to me than KFC (it seemed more crunchier and less oily). I also didn’t feel as gross as I normally would walking out of a KFC store.
In recent times I’ve had Red Rooster on the odd occasion but had mostly stuck to the pretty standard Rooster Rolls or roast chicken. Seems like the new menu range is a winner but I like that they still have a lot of the classics on there too.
Interesting also that the Red Rooster I was at is typically very quiet but yesterday it seemed a lot busier than I’ve seen it in the past. Hopefully the new menu continues to pay off for them. I know it was word of mouth for me (both from reading this thread and a friend’s recommendation) that convinced me to go and try some of their new stuff.
Good news is that the Red Rooster in the Virgin terminal at Brisbane is reopen. However they’re now where Carl’s Jr used to be, with McDonald’s in the former location closest to the terminal entry (the sushi joint remains on the corner closest to the gates, a 4th outlet between RR and Maccas still hasn’t opened).
Given all the positive Red Rooster comments here lately, I decided to have the new BBQ Burger for lunch today.
It was nice, but afterwards did make me feel a bit a like that i maybe shouldn’t have had it! But not to the extent that Carl’s Jr did.
The fries are still pretty average though, they tasted a bit bland and looked and felt a bit soggy. KFC and McDonald’s still make nicer fries.

Always ask for fresh fries, or no salt fries if you’re not comfortable asking for fresh (then ask for salt packets after they give you the food) . This is true for any fast food place.
I have always done this and never felt bad about it, especially with the price of fast food these days. I’m not paying to get cold or slightly warm food.

As a previous fast food worker, you were the dreeeeam customer doing this sarcasm

Agree but I do think we have to acknowledge the difference between fries and chips. HJ’s changing from fries to chips was a game changer.
