Isn’t there also a McDonald’s near the cinemas at Southland? I have not been there in about 6 months but I’m pretty sure that I remember one on the cinema side too, so might be the case of 2 in a centre was too many.
The McDonalds near the cinemas has also closed, I was told today. It could be a Westfield thing as Westfield Knox lost it’s McDonalds about three years ago.
The McDonald’s at Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre (the one with the IKEA) has also closed down recently.
From a few years ago
So Westfield wanted to upgrade their food offerings.
Seems a bit odd. When I pass them in shopping centres the queues are ridiculously long all the time.
It does seem a strange decision to move them out. Is there still the KFC in the Southland food court? If so I don’t see much of a difference. To me it makes perfect sense to have that McDonald’s near the cinemas. I’m sure a lot of parents would take their kids to the movies and McDonalds and not want more expensive food options.
Southland food court does have a KFC, but as of yesterday it was closed for renovations and is reopening soon.
So how does KFC fit the Westfield brief better than McDonald’s? Both are similar level fast food. So not sure how much to take from that article back in 2017. It makes you think that it’s more of a move by Maccas than it is by Westfield, potentially wanting to focus on the restaurants outside the centres.
I was in the one just outside Chadstone last week and there was a very angry lady who ordered something on the app and she had come to the wrong store, not realising that she had actually ordered at the one inside the shopping centre instead.
Michael Gebran, who ran Hero with Karen Martini, said on Instagram he was considering legal action against the museum, claiming ACMI informed the restaurant’s staff about the closure before he or Martini could make the announcement themselves. Gebran told Herald Sun today that he was notified by the closure by ACMI at 2pm yesterday and staff had to pack their belongings by 8pm.
UPDATE 4/10
Red Rooster has released two new burgers.
Picklebird Burger (with chipotle pickles)
BBQ Burger
That BBQ Burger doesn’t look very appealing at all… the Picklebird one looks a lot nicer (once I take out the pickles!).
Lol, looks great to me!
I haven’t read all the history of this thread but have we discussed the resurgence of red roota at all?
The fried chicken is the bomb! Especially the hot honey and reds hot varieties. Always seems to be super fresh, hot and moist when I order it. It also doesn’t really matter what cut of chicken you get, all are generally good. Buttermilk wings are very good as well, but wicked wings are still the GOAT.
With KFC, I always and exclusively request drumsticks as the thighs are usually an oil fest and the breast way too dry. Sometimes I don’t get what I ask for and end up with terrible chook, because they only “do our best” when requested lol.
The roota burgers are pretty good albeit it’s just tenders instead of a patty. My only gripe is they shoehorn a pineapple fritter in the box meals which they don’t let you swap… Gets thrown in the bin if the Mrs isn’t around, which is quite wasteful (but also, where it belongs). Please just let me have something else?
Overall KFC still tastes better (when being selective of what you buy and when done right) but roota does a fine job now and is far more consistent in terms of quality, where KFC’s quality has been slipping alot lately (zinger burgers patties are so damn thin now, and not even spicy anymore… and the amount of lettuce is laughable)
Colonel better watch out, the roota is coming!
Getta Burger has closed 14 of its Queensland stores, with only three branches in Townsville, North Ward and Kirwan remaining open.
The closed stores are in Capalaba, Clayfield, North Lakes, Cannon Hill, Victoria Point, West End, Bridgeman Downs, Carina, Springfield Lakes, Holmview, Yamanto and Yatala.
Hungry Jack’s have introduced their new Texan range, featuring the Texan Bacon Deluxe, Texan Grilled Chicken and the Texan Jack’s Fried Chicken!
Saw a commercial for Texan Bacon Deluxe during Dessert Masters finale last night.
They should bring back the Aussie Burger instead of having these Texas burger rubbish. I don’t eat at Hungry Jacks but bring back the Aussie burger and I will have a excuse to go there again. Why they got rid of that is beyond me.
The Texan range sounds interesting, but it’s been a long time since I’ve had Hungry Jacks too.
McRib is also making a return for the first time in three years.
Adding to the excitement, the wildly popular burger is also getting an upgrade with the introduction of the McRib Deluxe. This super-sized version includes all the ingredients of the McRib with the addition of cheese, lettuce, tomato and creamy McChicken sauce.
