Farmer Wants a Wife

Families flock to the farms

Partners vie to impress their potential in-laws

The final week on the farms kicked off with more surprises in tonight’s Farmer Wants A Wife on Channel 7 and 7plus.

An exciting letter by host Natalie Gruzlewski spiced things up as she offered the partners a chance to secure a dream date with their farmers. The catch? The ideas would be submitted anonymously, with each farmer blindly selecting their favourite.

When Farmer Ben chose 32-year-old hospital administrator Leish’s idea of paint throwing followed by a sunset wagyu, she confessed: “Ben’s probably gonna have a lot of back and forth in his head between myself and Kiani. What I’m hoping for is to have a really good time and build our connection and deepen the feelings.”

34-year-old builder Ayden was riding high after Farmer Paige decided on a “damper-pamper” date with him, and 25-year-old legal assistant Madi was over the moon when Farmer Will chose to build a veggie garden with her.

After Farmer Benjamin selected Hannah’s idea of a picnic at Ducket’s Hill, 32-year-old Erin was devastated. The teary-eyed flower farmer said: "I’m definitely feeling like I should just give up now because it’s just been so long between time with him. It’s definitely terrifying.”

Following a romantic dip in the dam, Harry hoped to dive deeper into his relationship with 22-year-old psychology student Tess: “Looking at our future together, our location, we’re quite on other sides of the country. She’s pretty committed to her studies right now, and that kinda worries me a little bit.”

While some connections with the Sam’s choice partners were going from strength to strength, Benjamin was struggling to work out his feelings for 33-year-old people and culture advisor Madelene, telling her: “It’s probably best if we part ways.”

With time slipping through their fingers, the farmers hoped that introducing their partners and families would help in choosing the one. But Natalie threw another curveball, asking the families to decide who the farmers should invite to their last romantic overnight date.

After spending an evening getting to know his ladies, Harry’s family decided on latecomer Bronte, observing the “potential for a really beautiful relationship to maybe blossom” and wanting to give her the “opportunity to see what could happen”.

Benjamin’s sister Kate chose Erin as she would be a “good fit into the family”. After sensing Will’s connection with Jess, his family wanted to see if it was “real or not”, and selected her to help the couple find clarity.

Paige’s mum and sister thought “spending a little bit of one-on-one time” with Cody would allow both to get to know each other better.

When Ben’s parents chose Leish, they put up a challenge for her “to convince Ben a long-distance relationship is going to work”.

Partners chosen by families for overnight dates:

Farmer Ben: Leish

Farmer Benjamin: Erin

Farmer Harry: Bronte

Farmer Paige: Cody

Farmer Will: Jess

Tomorrow night on Farmer Wants A Wife: ultimate dream dates are followed by deeper conversations as the final farm farewell dinner approaches. But right as their journey nears its end, one farmer receives news that means love must take a back seat.

A detour on the road to real love

One farmer forced leave before choosing final two

Romantic overnight dates paved the way for heartbreak as three partners said goodbye in tonight’s Farmer Wants A Wife on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Leish was stoked to spend the night with Farmer Ben on a house boat, calling it the “golden ticket of dates”. But when Ben asked if she was willing to leave behind her life in Brisbane for the farm, the 31-year-old hospital administrator replied: “It can’t just be at the drop of a hat. We have to experience our connection and relationship outside of all of this, because real life happens after the decision,” leaving Ben with more questions than answers.

As part of their romantic glamping date, Farmer Will had arranged a special movie under the stars for 26-year-old dental nurse Jess: “I reached out to some of Jess’s closest friends and family and they put together a nice little video.”

Farmer Harry’s last date with 27-year-old insurance claims specialist Bronte included a windmill and a bath, just like in McLeod’s Daughters, his dream date.

Farmer Paige and 27-year-old underground driller Cody’s romantic first date in a bubble tent ended with a kiss, while Farmer Benjamin was conflicted over having feelings for all three of his ladies.

Hoping his date with 32-year-old flower farmer Erin would help him choose his final two, Benjamin said: “What I have to be asking myself is, is this connection the same as the connection that I have with Lyndsay, or the ever-strengthening connection I have with Hannah?”

As the final decision approached, Benjamin’s torn heartstrings took a backseat when he received devastating news about his grandma’s health: “I’ve just got off the phone with my dad. I need to be with him and my family. I feel horrid that I have to jump ship right now, leave the ladies alone.”

At the farewell dinner, Leish feared that Ben might send her home following their conversation the previous night, so she pulled him aside. Reassured after his chat with Leish, Ben sent 25-year-old visual merchandise Maddison home, making Leish and 24-year-old beauty therapist Kiani his final two ladies.

Farmer Will decided it was the right time for Sam’s choice, 23-year-old account manager Holly, to head home: “I’ve really found what I’m after and my connection with Jess and Madi is really strong. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t as compatible with Holly.”

Farmer Harry made the difficult decision to send 24-year-old retail manager Rommi home: “That was certainly the hardest thing I’ve had to do. You know, letting someone so genuine and kind down like that is bloody horrible.”

Farmer Paige, on the other hand, decided not to farewell either of her suitors: “It’s strange, I feel like I know so much about the boys already, but yeah, I’ve barely gotten to know them. So it maybe too soon to send someone home.”

The final two partners are:
Farmer Ben: Leish and Kiani
Farmer Harry: Bronte and Tess
Farmer Paige: Cody and Ayden
Farmer Will: Jess and Madi

*Farmer Benjamin did not choose his final two as he departed

Tomorrow night on Farmer Wants A Wife: The farmers and their partners savour their final moments together before heading to the city for one last celebration.

“I choose me”

Farmer Paige ends her quest

Countdown to true love began as the partners said good byes to the farms before frocking up for one last catch-up on tonight’s Farmer Wants A Wife on Channel 7 and 7plus.

As the sun rose on the last day of farm stays, Farmers Benjamin’s ladies woke up to a devastating news: following his grandmother’s death, Benjamin had suffered a health issue of his own. “He’s so unwell that he can no longer continue the show. The doctors have made the call for him to exit the show and we’re all going home,” 32-year-old flower farmer Erin said.

For their final moments together, Farmer Will wanted to chat with 26-year-old dental nurse Jess and 25-year-old legal assistant Madi to figure out whose world best combined with his: “I’ve got Madi, who is really grounded and really stable and secure in what she wants. Then, on the other hand, there’s Jess who I have heaps and heaps of fun with.”

On their overnight date, 27-year-old underground driller Cody wrote Farmer Paige a poem and became her first kiss of the experience, but Paige felt Cody had stepped back since: “He keeps saying that he doesn’t wanna lead anyone on and he doesn’t want just that physical connection that he’s had with people before. And there’s part of me that just wonders if he lets go of that and just holds on to the emotional connection that’s there, then maybe he’ll allow something to grow.”

Farmer Harry spent the last day having some serious conversations with 27-year-old insurance claims specialist Bronte and 22-year-old psychology student Tess. While Bronte was very open to the idea of moving to the farm straight away, Harry wasn’t sure if situation would be the same with his early favourite, Tess: “I’m in a great spot with Tess. Really like her, but a fear with Tess is obviously the distance that we’d probably have to do for a little while, because she does have her studies.”

To celebrate the end of their time in the country, the farmers and their partners gathered for one final get-together, surrounded by the glitz and glamour of the city.

During the farmer’s catch-up, while the others were feeling the love, Farmer Paige got a huge reality check: “I wish that I was sitting with the farmers having the same yarns to them about what they’re telling me, falling in love and having an ending to this whole adventure for the exact reason that we came here. And I’m the one that is constantly sitting there questioning everything.”

Before the evening kicked-off, special guest Samantha Armytage gave the partners one last opportunity to know where the farmers’ hearts lied: “Today you have an important chance to get answers on any lingering concerns or questions that you may have. We have a question box for you to submit questions anonymously. The questions that you ask tonight could determine the course of your future.”

With honesty on the menu, 24-year-old beauty therapist Kiani – still reeling from the news that Ben kissed Leish on their final day on the farm – decided to confront him: “He was just, like, so adamant that he wasn’t gonna do that, because he felt weird. Yeah, I’m pissed off. Ben said that he didn’t wanna kiss either of us and Leish has just told me that they did kiss.”

Feeling uneasy about what Paige said during the farmers’ catch up earlier, Will pulled Cody aside for a chat: “I thought it would be a good opportunity to go and have a chat to Cody, maybe see where he’s at and if he was willing to, sort of, maybe open up a bit more to me.”

Will’s ladies decided to give Paige a pep-talk. “Will mentioned at the farmer catch up that Paige had some concerns and I think that all of the farmers have probably tried their best throughout the whole experience to be a comfort and a support for her, but I do think that it’s a little bit easier when you’ve got a few other girlfriends to talk to,” Madi said.

After confiding in the ladies, Paige decided to come clean, starting with 34-year-old builder Ayden: “I actually think we may not be suited for each other and that the person that you’re looking for to come back to your farm and have a family is not me and the person that I’m looking for is not in you.”

Following Ayden’s departure, Paige let Cody go as well: “I can’t stand here and allow someone to tell me that, essentially, I’m not enough. And I know that’s not the exact words that you’re saying to me, but that’s how I feel when, essentially, you kissed me and then are so distant. I really was hoping this was going somewhere, but I can’t keep hoping and questioning my own self-worth."

Paige later confessed: “Saying goodbye to him was empowering, because I chose me. I came here looking for love and I haven’t found that with someone, but I’ve found a new love for myself and that’s incredible.”

Next Monday on Farmer Wants A Wife: The remaining farmers visit the homes of their final two partners, as they prepare for their biggest decision yet – who to share the rest of their lives with.

A bush fairytale comes true

Farmers Will, Ben and Harry find love

The road to real love has had a happy ending for Farmers Will, Ben and Harry, who followed their hearts in tonight’s Farmer Wants A Wife finale on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Before final decisions were made, the tables were turned as the bush bachelors headed to the big smoke for one last chance to connect with the partners and their families.

Farmer Harry had one question in mind as he landed in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast to see Sam’s choice, 27-year-old insurance claims specialist Bronte: “The age difference between Bronte and I, it’s the elephant in the room, 'cause she is 27 and I’m 23. She wants to have kids very soon, and start that new chapter. Meeting Bronte’s family, I’m hoping to understand a little bit more about where she is on her timeline.“

Farmer Ben travelled three hours south of his farm to Sydney to see 24-year-old beauty therapist Kiani and her family. After spending the afternoon asking Ben some hard-hitting questions, Kiani’s mum was not convinced: “My concern is it doesn’t sound like he’s got a lot of time for a relationship. But he seems very nice and very suited to Kiani.”

Down south, Farmer Will made the four-hour drive to 25-year-old legal assistant Madi’s family home on the outskirts of Melbourne with a clear agenda: “I’m definitely going to be taking a lot of notice with how Madi interacts with her family and how she interacts with me in that similar situation. People are more themselves around their family 'cause they’re comfortable. It’s as simple as that. I feel like it’ll either strengthen my thoughts, or yeah, maybe alleviate some doubt.”

After chatting to 22-year-old psychology student Tess’s mom at their Gold Coast family home, Harry got a harsh reality check when she said: “Tess can’t move to the farm immediately because she has 18 months left to complete her Master’s Degree in Psychology. Tess is really setting up her life. After that she’s a free agent to choose whatever pathway she wants.”

Over in Brisbane, the hometown of 32-year-old hospital administrator Leish, Ben was vetted by two of her closest friends: “Jordan and Ashley were very protective. They definitely grilled me a bit, but I’d expect nothing less. They just want to see Leish happy.”

Later, when Will made the mammoth trip from his farm in regional Victoria to 26-year-old dental nurse Jess’s regional hometown of Esk in Queensland, she was keen to know her family’s opinion: “Hearing my older sister, Kim, what she has to say about Will would definitely like mean a lot to me, and same with Mum. I’m keen to see what Mum has to say.”

After the ups and downs of the last few weeks, it was time to return to the Hunter Valley for the final decision.

Farmer Harry faced the ultimate choice between his feelings for Tess and Bronte. Although wary if long distance would work with Tess, Harry couldn’t deny their connection. Saying getting to know her had been the best thing to come out of this whole experience, he declared his love: “I thought I knew what I wanted in a relationship and since meeting you that has just reinforced that and I do feel like you tick a lot of those boxes in someone I’m looking for a life partner. And… I love you and I want to be with you.”

For Farmer Ben, it was all about following his “heart”. Even though he had strong feelings for Kiani and knew life with her would be perfect, given she was ready to move to the farm in a heartbeat, Ben chose to listen to his heart rather than his head. He confessed to Leish: “We’ve shared so many firsts with one another. The first date, the first to come to the farm and the first kiss. From the moment I met you, you’ve always been on my mind. Leish, I’ve fallen madly in love with you and I’d love for you to run away with me and start this next chapter of our lives together.”

Kiani wished Ben well, hoping Leish could love him the way he deserved.

Farmer Will was torn between Jess and Madi: “I came in with an open mind in regards to love and falling in love but yeah, I honestly didn’t think I’d get to the point that I’m at now.”

After weighing down his feelings for both the ladies, Will realised that his heart belonged with Jess, before telling her: “When I look forward to my future, I see you in it. I want you to be in it. I really am falling in love with you, and I want to give us a go and I really hope that you do as well.”

“I do! Of course I do! Oh, I’m shaking!” smiled Jess as she kissed Will.

Tomorrow night, don’t miss the heartwarming Farmer Wants A Wife Reunion as the farmers and partners are reunited one last time to reflect on their journeys in an emotional special event.

Farmer Wants A Wife Reunion 7.30pm Tuesday

(Farmer Will and Jess) told host Natalie Gruzlewski that Jess is making the move to the farm “straight away” and they plan to marry “one day” and little versions of themselves “running around”.

Farmer Harry and his winner Tess revealed that to make their long-distance work, Harry is “taking a cheeky gap year” on the Gold Coast, where Tess is completing her studies.

While farmers Paige and Benjamin did not make it to the end of the Farmer Wants a Wife journey, it was revealed that Paige is “more ready than ever” now to find love.
For Benjamin, who had to leave early due to a health emergency, it was revealed that his health is getting “back on track”.

Lastly, farmer Ben and his winner Leish shared that their relationship did not immediately go as planned - admitting it was “rocky” to start with.

I dont think Ben & Leish are still together unfortunately. Jess & Will & Tess & Harry are still together. Farmer Benjamin who had to leave the show unfortunately is supposedly dating one of his 3 girls who were still on the show when he had to leave due to medical reasons. The suitor is supposedly Hannah

Shock? As if. :joy:

Quoting from the TV Tonight article JBar linked to (and emphasis added):

Long term host Natalie Gruzlewski will be a co-host this season, understood to be keen to scale back her duties.

Calling it now. This will be the last season of the show on 7.

They really overestimate Sam’s appeal to the wider public especially in the last year of her Sunrise tenure… this will see the show be a sinking ship.

How many times did Sam Armytage say in that promo that this is the best season ever? Why? Because of her?!
