I am just happy that there will be an actual contest next year and not a virtual sing-off. For Montaigne, it will mean more time spent in Europe, including two weeks in hotel quarantine before she can start any rehearsals.
Where does it say that? They donât have the same quarantine rules that we do.
Stumbled across this recently. I think we all would probably agree the best runner up of the 2010âs would be Dami, but some of these from the 2000âs brought back memories.
For me it was Yohanna by a country mile, what a voice and those key changes. I canât remember who won that year.
Alexander Rybak won with Fairytale that year. He held the record for the most number of points for a win until 2017.
Some of the new European entries are being released. When do we hear the new Australian entry?
You donât have to wait too long. The Australian entry by Montaigne will be officially released tomorrow, but she announced the song title - Technicolour - on social media this afternoon. She will perform the song at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade at the SCG on Saturday night.
I really like Montaigneâs Eurovision song. It is unique and catchy but also has that Eurovision vibe and moment. I hope it does well.
Can you post a link to the full song? I can only find snippets.
It is on Spotify. Most other places that itâs been posted (like YouTube) get blocked or removed.
Edit: Actually this one seems to work for now:
I really love it and think itâs definitely the catchiest song that weâve put into Eurovision. I havnât heard many of the other acts but I think this song could stand out. Iâm looking forward to her Mardi Gras performance of it.
I donât love it personally but it is catchy and very Euro.
Eurovision Song Contest 2021
Montaigne releases Australiaâs official Eurovision song Technicolour
Listen to the entire song here.
2021 Eurovision contestant and ARIA Award-winning art-pop songwriter, Montaigne, has had the internet buzzing this week as teasers of her brand new Eurovision song spread like wildfire.
Montaigne will sing the uplifting and powerful anthem Technicolour at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and broadcast exclusively on SBS from 19 to 23 May .
Montaigne will light up the Sydney Cricket Ground with her first ever performance of Technicolour at the 2021 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras on Saturday night which will be streamed internationally on SBS On Demand . As the official broadcast partner, SBS is proud to bring to life the colour and magic of the event live and exclusively.
Written and produced specifically for Eurovision, Technicolour is a new song highlighting Montaigneâs vocal prowess, with upbeat pop stylings and a catchy anthemic feel. Montaigne co-wrote the song alongside Sydney-based songwriter and producer, Dave Hammer ( Lime Cordiale, Thundamentals) .
Montaigne said: âIâm so excited to present Technicolour to the world! I think it does it all â makes you want to cry, makes you want to dance, makes you want to take on a malignant corporate power â and I think that it is both forward-thinking and suitable for Eurovision.â
Sure to make waves at Eurovision, Technicolour will allow Montaigne to showcase her powerhouse vocals and electric energy.
SBS Commissioning Editor and Australian Head of Delegation Josh Martin said: âWe love this song! SBS has always celebrated the technicolour nature of Australia and the world, and Montaigne has written an anthem that encapsulates all that we stand for as a broadcaster and a country. Where better to premiere it, than one of the worldâs most loved Pride events â the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras ! The song is positive, purposeful â and letâs face it â fun! It will be right at home at the worldâs largest, inclusive technicolour song contest where, to borrow a line from the chorus â âif we stand together, we can do whateverâ.â
Creative Director of Eurovision â Australia Decides and Director of Blink TV Paul Clarke said: â Technicolour begins by addressing the universal and personal challenges of the pandemic, then it empowers you to be a superhero and rise above. Itâs all done with Montaigneâs cheeky sense of humour, at once vulnerable and kinda fierce. Iâm expecting some deep and moving music this year at Eurovision, but we are flicking the switch to empowerment with Montaigne and turning the volume right up.â
Despite best efforts AMPTV say the events that followed after the confirmation of Armeniaâs participation at this yearâs event have made it impossible to organize an entry in time for this monthâs deadline.
âInternet buzzingâ might be a bit of a stretchâŚ
Actually Iâve listened to the song a few times now. While itâs very Euro I personally donât think she stands a chance with it. It doesnât do it for me.
Iâve just watched Montaigneâs performance at the Mardi Gras and Joel Creasey said he will be excited to take her to Eurovision in Rotterdam later in the year. Then he corrected himself and said , well Montaigne will be going but I donât think I will be.
So does that mean thereâs a good chance Joel and Myf wonât go to Rotterdam and only do the commentary from Australia?
I think it would be extremely unlikely Joel and Myf will be there in person.
