As I mentioned previously, the odds are volatile at this stage but to those sprouting Montaigne was near the top of the European odds after winning Australia Decides - not any more.
Australia isn’t even top 10 and I stand by my opinion this song will not do well this year. Just my opinion.
Disagree. I think we will easily make it to the final. Most people like the song unlike Kate last year and Montaigne’s song is in the top 3 in almost all ranking lists online. We are also 3rd out of 14 in the My Eurovision app, which all the diehard Eurovision fans use.
Odds don’t mean much at this point. Cyprus in 2018 was 34th in the odds before rehearsals started in Lisbon, then when the staging was revealed they went shooting up to number 1. Cyprus eventually ended up coming 2nd in the final.
We will see but with the songs released so far I have great confidence of us placing high, especially with Don’t Break Me being a much more accessible song than Zero gravity. Also it’s got almost double the amount of streams on Spotify than Zero Gravity had at this point last year.
Agree. Odds fluctuate and other countries get a boost as soon as new songs are released. Betting odds in the lead up to the competition are often very wrong too but all signs so far are postiive.
Better to be optimistic than pessimistic. From what I’m reading there are a lot of strong contenders in Eurovision this year and particularly the first semi-final has a lot of countries that often do well, so there is every chance you could be right. However I’m not going to say if Montainge will do well or not as we will find out in May but I’m confident we put our best chance forward.
It also had around 100,000 more streams on Spotfy at the time of Eurovision Australia Decides than artists like Casey and Vanessa’s songs did despite being one of the last tracks released. So clearly there was international interest in it. So I don’t know how anyone can think that we didn’t put the track that has the best shot forward.
That’s the way to start drumming up hypet. I hope tha’s not her main focus and she put s a lot of work into the staging though. It needs smarter use of props or people around her so she can focus more on singing and not having a camera run around in front of her.
What a mess. I feel sorry for the artists that were so excited to take part at Eurovision as well as the fans. We need something to cheer us up at this current time of doom and gloom.
