Most likely no demand for it. Didn’t work on 10 where it stood alongside a few other soaps. Hasn’t played in Australia for over a decade before that. I’m sure the very few in Australia who care about it have ways of watching it.

Some more NBC-U content and some pretty significant titles landed on Disney Plus in Australia today:

Back to the Future franchise, DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek franchise and 2000s hit show House (full series).

These also appear on Seven / 7Plus, Netflix, Prime Video and Foxtel / Binge.

But noteworthy is the non-Disney IP.

Disney’s also getting Mad Men (a Lionsgate title) on the 14th which is… interesting.

A big deal has been made in the trades about HBO Max getting it in the States. Weird how they didn’t do a more international deal. It’s similar to the last time Mad Men went to market though. Netflix got it in the U.S, but overseas it left Netflix to go to Prime.

Wonder if it’ll be in 4K like it is going to be on HBO Max. Non-Netflix streamers all seem to follow the old model of just selling content to the highest bidder internationally, and sometimes having a random delay. I thought they’d see Netflix’s insistence on consistency around release dates and Netflix Originals branding as something to copy.

It’s very frustrating when you consider how much US news and promo material reaches Australia through social media, and how much of it must be confusing for local consumers. Smiling Friends is nowhere, despite being tied heavily to HBO Max on TikTok. The Gilded Age is a HBO Original in the US, but appears on Paramount+ here. Even just The Daily Show being on Binge instead of Paramount+ is strange.

There’s no consistency.

I know the U.S..A Soap General Hospital has never been very Popular here in Australia but Hulu have it on their American Service so why can’t it be on the Aussie Hulu Disney+ it’s on demand so Disney don’t have to worry about it’s Ratings? Disney+ please give it a Chance Australians and Immigrants might Watch it. Maybe promote General Hospital with Australian Singer& Actor Rick Springfield who stared in it?
