Sorry to bring this up again, but we’re getting impatient for new American Dad and Family Guy episodes here. Season 20 of AD and Season 23 of FG aired on 7mate a month-and-a-half ago, but they’re still not on D+ yet. When will those seasons come?

Usually roughly a year after airing on Seven.

I do love your passion on this very niche matter, reminds me a lot of myself actually

But as has been discussed over the years, it’s to do with the licencing. Seven have a window, most likely a first run FTA exclusive life-of-series, originally with Fox and honoured/renewed by Disney.

Not much Disney Plus can contractually do, regardless how trivial and small the shows’ audiences might be today.

Seven to terminate the deal at some point. The life-of-series rights are an artefact of the 1990s/2000s.

It’s cheap filler content for 7

I imagine broadcasters would like to see more of them nowadays with the advent of international streamers. Seems like Stan still does a lot of these deals too.

Disney is pretty clearly relying on a long-forgotten property they acquired to make their streaming strategy feel justified. Still, at least ABC can finally have an SNL-type show of its own.

Any info about when the new episodes of Abbot will drop on Disney+? I’m going to assume probably when it goes on break again, maybe Feb?
