Disney+ streams big as the presenting partner of the inaugural NBL Ignite Cup starting 8 October

Prime-time Wednesday night basketball is set to go to another level with the debut of the Hungry Jack’s NBL Ignite Cup on 8 October and Disney+ is signing on as presenting partner.

Disney+ is the perfect match for the League’s new in-season competition which complements the NBL regular season and brings fresh drama, intensity and entertainment to basketball fans across the season.

The stakes are raised to a whole new level with a total of $400,000 in prize money on the line, the largest in NBL history.

The new competition introduces a further 20 Wednesday night games across the season, culminating in a standalone Grand Final to be played in a soon-to-be-revealed major city.

The partnership underscores the immense basketball fandom that Disney+ serves through its ESPN on Disney+ ‘Home for Hoops’ offering, streaming every NBL game live in 2026, all Ignite Cup games, and the NBL Finals.

With Disney+ streaming in millions of Australian and New Zealand homes, the NBL is reaching its broadest ever mainstream audience.

The Walt Disney Company Senior Vice President and Managing Director Australia & New Zealand, and Head of ESPN Asia Pacific, Kylie Watson-Wheeler said: “Disney+ is thrilled to be the presenting partner of the NBL Ignite Cup. The Walt Disney Company is a strong and long-standing supporter of the NBL and basketball in Australia. We’re excited to be bringing even more thrilling basketball action to hoops fans through our ESPN network, including Disney+, where it plays alongside the best of premium entertainment.”

David Stevenson, NBL Group CEO said: “Disney+ is an invaluable supporter of the NBL through our partnership with ESPN, and we are delighted to extend that connection to the Ignite Cup. Their backing ensures that this tournament will reach more Australians than ever before, helping us showcase the best of the league and its players on a national stage. We are excited that fans from right around the country will be able to experience the drama, energy and spectacle of the Ignite Cup thanks to Disney’s incredible support. My sincere thanks to the Disney Australia team for their continued investment and support of the NBL.”

Does channel 10 still have the rights to General Hospital because it’s a Hulu/ABC US show why can’t Hulu Australia get the rights to it.If they don’t where else can you watch GH on Streaming?

They still have to pay royalties to actors/crew/whoever.

New spin off series, 911: Nashville has dropped on Disney+ overnight.

Yep it aired yesterday in America. So looks like 7 hasn’t gotten these rights. Given with both 9-1-1 & 9-1-1 Line Star they aired on 7 before being added to Disney.

And given 9-1-1 new season which also aired yesterday isn’t on Disney, 7 must still have first air rights.

And what a lovely surprise it was. Great first episode!

Titled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair” as a reference to the theme song’s opening lyric, the four-episode revival is set to debut on Disney+ in 2026. Muniz returns in the title role, the third of five sons in a dysfunctional suburban family, alongside Berfield and Masterson as his older brothers Francis and Reese, respectively.

I believe the youngest brother was the only cast member not to return.

Yeah Erik Per Sullivan, he hasn’t acted in 15 years. Sounds like Bryan Cranston still keeps in touch, said to media that he was well and has been concentrating on post graduate college studies in the US.

The comedic chaos continues when Disney’s Freakier Friday brings laugh-out-loud, out-of-body fun streaming exclusively on Disney+ beginning November 12.

Blending heart, humor, and a dash of spellbound magic, Disney’s Freakier Friday marks the next chapter for on-screen mother and daughter Jamie Lee Curtis (Tess Coleman) and Lindsay Lohan (Anna Coleman), as the Coleman family’s story moves into a new generation.

Called “a throwback done right – fun, funny, and full of heart” (Kylie Mar, Complex), Disney’s Freakier Friday is the perfect film for families to enjoy together – whether or not they’ve ever imagined swapping places or walking a mile in someone else’s shoes.
