They should use @WAtvVideos’s xmlepg.net for the channel list. That’s the most accurate
I’d kinda rather they don’t try. It’s a useful and functional site and has kept the same feature set all these years.
On the other hand, the ACMA refresh every few years, breaking all links in the process and having less content. If they updated my switch I’m sure it would suffer the same plague.
Does anyone have a link to an HDHomeRun dongle that I can use with my laptop?
Yes you will, though you won’t get ads for the Mildura market, instead you’ll likely get ads for really remote areas of Australia, including ads for water poly tanks and irrigation equipment, as well as farm supplies and machinery, and mining.
Note how the list on VAST says Southern Cross, Imparja and Ten. The Ten section is just Central Digital Television, which is another JV station but between SCA (soon SWM) and Imparja.
The VAST needs a Refurbish with 7flix, 9life and Nickelodeon joining.
HDHomeRun is a specific brand that connects to your network via ethernet. They don’t make dongles for laptops, but if you buy an HDHomeRun device it’ll work on your laptop. You can buy them at the official website: https://www.silicondust.com/buy/
What you might be into is a BDA tuner, which plugs in via USB. You can find those on eBay or just google them. Some makers of reputable ones are Hauppage and Avermedia. Some people have also had luck getting the old one designed for Xbox One working but I’m not sure about that…
Also, why are they making VAST available for Mildura when you don’t even get all the 10 stuff and still have to pay $500 for an application? Why couldn’t they just market 10 Play more? It’s not like Mildura has no terrestrial channels at all.
Because if you have bad or no internet and want Ten programming, a one off setup for VAST is cheaper.
It’s good viewers have this option.
Also if you’re computer illiterate and struggle with a smart TV
It’s not the application that costs. It’s the equipment and installation. Anyone around the country that just wants the ABC and SBS channels or just the Christian ones still have to pay for the box and activate via myvast.com.au, but don’t have to apply for the commercial channels.
I somehow doubt all of those channels will occur on day one of SWM taking over SCA. Time will tell whether they will eventually arrive or not. On Nickelodeon coming on VAST remember 10 central is not owned by the 10 network and I doubt the 10 network will be buying 10 central anytime soon.
Very doubtful. There has to come a point when linear broadcast services are not expanded further and viewers are driven more to on-line streaming where there are no limits on the number of live linear services. For expansion on VAST to occur, more bandwidth would need to be leased by the Fed Govt as they are the ones paying for it, that ain’t going to happen. I only wish on-line streaming of the FTA services can be PVR recorded somehow, anyone know of any such solution? As I do not go near the FTA on-line catch-up services being they do not let you skip ads. I still rely on a Plex/HD Homerun for my FTA DTB PVR needs.
this feels surreal!!!
IT LOOKS AMAZING.
Now we just gotta wait till Thursday for VIC to get it.
Can’t find where, but recently someone asked about NSW South Coast feeds.
In Eden tonight, can confirm WIN is still 9HD Wollongong, whilst 7 and 10 are still 7HD Sth Coast and 10 HD South Coast
It was here in the dtv channel names thread:
Thanks for confirming though, because when I last went to the South coast, it was definitely 9HD South Coast and the SD channel was Ch9 Sth Coast rather than just 9/9HD Wollongong.
With Mini Me fast asleep and with the ABC HD upgrade, I decided to channel surf tonight. I noticed that 10 Bold and 10 Peach have had their channel names updated and both are now in HD as per screenshots. Not sure when this happened or if it had been mentioned before. Just goes to show you how little of actual broadcast TV I watch these days, lol. For those playing at home, it’s NRN Coffs Harbour.

Must be very recent, as I checked Newcastle last week and both were SD. Looking forward to even more HD when I get home, along with the ABC changes today!
Is this the first report of HD Peach/Comedy?
Can’t remember if any regional areas have had that upgrade yet.
