Channel names same and Peach still SD in Melbourne.
SCA areas got it not long ago for both Drama and Comedy.
Oh hey - they’ve renamed Bold & Peach. The lack of capitalisation is sending me. Why are they lowercase d & c ![]()
Also good to see from your photos that they are in Dolby audio AAC3 rather than just mpeg audio like the 7 regional hd multis are.
10 seriously needs to up their game in metro. So does every other station. Right now, regional QLD’s multiplex is much better than Brisbanes.
is LCN 5 still stylised as ‘10HD Coffs Harbour?’
About time!
Sydney next, then Melbourne to finish it all off. Should be all complete by Xmas. ![]()
Yes
I wonder id 10 will take the opportunity on 30 June to flick the HD switch in metro areas for the new 10 Comedy.
No way. No network cares about metro anymore.
what?
I mean, both 10 and 7 care about regional more. Hence 7twoHD and 10 Peach HD
I don’t know the background behind recent HD changes, but I don’t think it’s as simplistic as “networks care about xx and not about xx”. Networks are very complex and obviously a lot of technical logistics is needed to deliver and manage over vast networks of transmitters, etc. You and I might think switching a channel to HD might be just a flick of a switch but for all we know there is a tonne of stuff behind the scenes that complicates that.
Exactly right, HD often involves technological and workflow upgrades whilst teams also have to keep to within existing budgets which often means upgrades done gradually over time - as viewers we just don’t realise this stuff in practice. Part of the magic of tv.
The ABC HD switchover is now complete as I’m sure that Victoria was the last one done today. ![]()
Can confirm that ABC Entertains and News channels are HD in Regional Vic.
That leaves us with just 4 MPEG2 SD channels:
ABC2
ABC22 Kids (now the only SD MPEG2 exclusive channel)
SBS3
NITV36
The switch over occurred before 1:30am this morning, consistent with the other states switch over to HD.
Channels 9 and 10 better Follow ABC and 7’s lead?
