First song for 2025 on both WS and Triple M?
New Years Day - U2
And the second song on both
Celebration - Dragon

First song for 2025 on both WS and Triple M?
New Years Day - U2
And the second song on both
Celebration - Dragon

Everywhere - Fleetwood Mac
Came across three stations playing this all at once this morning
WSFM, oops, sorry Gold 101.7
102.9 Triple M
107.7 Triple M
So yeah, it really was āEverywhereā.
Yeah so many songs from Fleetwood mac they would not play (including late 60s stuff). Maybe a Billy Bob missing 6, the most popular classic hits/artist of songs that made the top 40 but donāt get played anymore.
Heād need more than 6, you could get a whole day of good songs with a theme like that.
Triple Z - Slip Sliding Away and River 949 with ABBA today - what is happening? - are all stations morphing into Gold FM
Swoop- Apple Eyes
4BRZ (The Breeze) at about 08:18 Toad Time today.
That one will please @tamago_otoko no doubt. I actually love the song but itās definitely out of place here.
A guilty pleasure from my days as a seven year old (or thereabouts).
But not a song for the breakfast shift on an easy listening station, by any stretch of the imaginationā¦
They probably had a hangover from all that strawberry wine (or feeling hot on account of the Queensland sun).
Not sure if this belongs in this thread but Just recently on Triple M Newcastle 102.9 (and metros), they played Genesis - I Canāt Dance and Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer back to back which is incredibly coincidental since Gabriel was the original lead vocalist for Genesis before he departed in 1975 and Drummer Phil Collins replaced him!
Just after 10:45am this morning I heard āSuperstarā by Jamelia on GOLD 101.7. Possibly the first time Iāve heard it on GOLD/WSFM; it gets more frequently played on smoothfm, as well as the occasional play on Hope 103.2, these days.
Australia Day saw a lot of rare tracks being played.
Heard the Theme from Skippy on community radio.
Australians arenāt generally known for making great TVCs but this is superb.
USP, SMP = perfect. What a song. Such a funny commercial!
And Fm104.7 played it this morning! Woo hoo!
I just did a bandscan down here, not as much as I was hoping for.
Only 2NUR seemed to be playing āAll Aussieā songs (so no American Top 40 today), Triple M metros were doing āOz Triple Playsā including this one which surprised me a little bit. But that seemed to be about it in terms of any Aussie themes being run.
Staying Alive - The Bee Gees (reminds of when last year Dave Gleeson said āoh we canāt play the Bee Gees on Triple Māā¦ how times have changed!).
Overall definitely a bit more Aussie music being played today than usual, but then, thatās not really saying a lot.
Iāve been listening to 1323. Theyāve certainly cranked up the Aussie tat.
Triple plays:
John Travolta / Olivia Newton-John Youāre The One That I Want
Easybeats Friday On My Mind
Richard Clapton Girls On The Avenue
The Mixtures In The Summertime
The Twilights Whatās Wrong With The Way I Live
Ted Mulry Gang Darktown Struttersā Ball
Bee Gees Night Fever
John Paul Young I Hate The Music
Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons Hit And Run
I was just about to turn them off when JPL was on āā¦ (sigh) I hate musicāā¦ but I enjoy Hit And Run. The ARU (as it was back then) had a great version ābecause now we rule the world in the running gameā. Great Australia Day memories when Australia had the best rugby team in the world (albeit briefly).
Thatās interesting, I didnāt think NZ would really care about Australia Day much at all.
Nothing against Luke Combs but I did hear his cover of āFast Carā on Triple M Sydney just after 7:10am this morning. Iāve never previously heard it on that station before.
I have heard his cover of āFast Carā on Triple M Countdowns in the past (both metro and regionals), but I believe it was to promote his concert in Sydney this week.
I think his version is absolutely awful to be honest.
Sheena Easton- 9 To 5 (Morning Train)
Radio Caroline now
Totally out of place on this great station!
