Did They Really Just Play That?

Not a song I was really expecting to hear on the new “Greatest Hits” format on.Triple M Sydney a short while ago

Two Strong Hearts - John Farnham

I know they’ve played “You’re The Voice” before, but that one is more understable as it’s more iconic.

“Age Of Reason” is a forgotten Farnham classic that I think is a better fit than “Two Strong Hearts”’ for Triple M metro stations.

Been playing that every 2nd-3rd day on MMM regionals

I really don’t know what Triple M are doing with the metros these days.

I wonder if they even know themselves.

I agree. It’s one thing to include some softer rock, no problem with that. But as usual it comes down to song choice. That song is quite frankly lame and just way too safe, for want of a better word.

I am glad, I am not the only one who hates that song.

I don’t hate it, it’s fine to hear on WS/Gold and Smooth occasionally, just gets played too much and doesn’t align with the Triple M brand (for me).

Personally, I have always had a soft spot with You’re The Voice and Burn For You, but I have never been a big fan of his other songs. Then again each to their own.

Perry Como- Magic Moments

Braidwood FM, The Conga Line this week.

(I did it as a Bob Rogers tribute; this song was one of the first- if not the first-#1s on his Top 40 in 1958).

It was also the first song to be played on Magic 693 Melbourne when it launched on 26th March 1994.

Source: Magic 693 History Page from 2002

Apparently, it was also the last song to be played on Magic 693 before it changed frequency to 1278, swapping with 3AW, on 1st May 2006.

Happened to hear Complicated by Avril Lavigne on Triple M Newcastle not long ago. I know it’s the regionals and I don’t mind the song since I am a late millennial but it’s one of the oddities that the regionals have been playing recently next to a few Ace of Base songs I heard last week and this week too.

Hmm, to me Avril Lavigne doesn’t stick out as much as Ace Of Base on Triple M for some reason. I think that song would even sound ok on the metros.

I agree. I’ve heard it a few times on Triple M and it doesn’t sound out of place. Also, I don’t mind the song.

Early Avril did have that rock type sound before she became soppy Avril about the time she hooked up with Mr Kroeger, who is arguably the king of soppy rock via Nickelback.

I heard Miley Cyrus “See You Again” on the Hit Network’s R&B Fridays this morning.

Didn’t sound like an R&B song at all to me?
(I actually didn’t mind this one either).

We need a new thread: ‘Did they really just listen to that station’?

I just happened to come across Hit101.3 on my dial twiddling on the way back home and that song was on… the following song (‘Informer’ by Snow) had me changing the station again instantly.
