Yes he did.
On the North Coast for a few days, heard âWeâre Not Gonna Take Itâ (Twisted Sister) during the John Laws show on 2PM 93.5 this morning.
Not sure why, I wondered if they might have been discussing the lawsuit against Clive Palmer beforehand possibly?
On my way home yesterday in South Sydney walking past a chicken take-away, I actually heard Sheena Eastonâs âMorning trainâ. Havenât heard that song, since it was in the charts in 1981, it was played around 2:19 pm. If by any chance I could take a guess , it would have most probably been smooth, couldnât imagine WSFM playing that song in a million years. Still say, if they didnât scream âSMOOTH FMâ over the intro of every song, it wouldnât have been a half bad station to listen to.
According to Lava, it was indeed Smooth that played the song at that time.
Played very often at my workâs instore radio.
I have heard WSFM play it too.
Yes Iâve heard it on Smooth a few times.
Triple J playing Suspicious Minds by Elvis around 9pm last night, during their mixup.
I know hot AC is the vogue, but thatâs a bit of a far stretch.
Clarence Carter - Strokinâ played on Rebel FM this morning at 00.56am AEDT (Saturday 11.56pm Qld time). Strange playing an 80s dancefloor hit on a rock station!
I know this an out there idea, especially given how tight music playlists have become, but surely a bit of a challenge could be given for digital radio on the 80s / 90s stations is to find just one irregular / lost gem / obscure song a day, and play it either sometime in the workday, or if they wanted to make it a thing, at the same time of day.
Thereâs an entire decade of content to find a singer / bandâs rarely played 4th single off and album, pull out an old aria chart and see what was number 50 one week, etc
Itâd mix up the existing playlists (and definitely give this thread some surprises)
Nah, thatâs what Billy Bobâs Retro Countdown is for!***
***This may appear on the Wednesday arvo slot, shortly.
4KQ do this pretty much every day with their âlost classicsâ. Sometimes they are pretty obscure.
Rainbow Connection - Kermit The Frog [+] Jim Henson on 2CH.
Young Americans - David Bowie (1975)
Just played on Nova 96.9 during Kate, Tim and Joel.
Thatâs the oldest song Iâve heard them play.
You should listen more often. Tim often diverges from their playlist. The songs usually relate to the topics theyâre covering which is quite good.
All Of Me - John Legend
Just played on Triple M Soft Rock DAB.
Soft it sure is, but rock it definitely ainât.
Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science, on Rebel FM
This was just after 7:30am on the breakfast show too, so not buried in the graveyard shift or anything. Very unexpected
Proving the Rebel playlist is as deep as any ocean; as sweet as any harmony played.
Also played on Coles radio at 8.15 this morning.
This morning between 9 & 10am, Hit Regional played âKids In Americaâ by Kim Wilde, which is probably the oldest track that is being played on the network.
Listening via Hit 105.9 from Orange (which was blasting in into Sydney this morning), this would take some back to the time when that particular station was Star FM & was owned by DMG back in the late 90s/early-mid 00s.
