Oh Come on! They played Scandal’Us but Not Bardot?
OMG it’s true.
This is a but unusual.
Rhythm of the Night - Debarge on a backup tape on 2NZ Inverell. I knew it was a backup tape as I checked 1080 and they were airing the Carter Edwards Show that 2NZ would had been airing around that time.
The backup tape is a regular feature on 2HC Coffs Harbour. Only the AM transmitter is affected, the FM translator at Woolgoolga continues on as normal.
At least that allows them to forget about the worries on their mind, as far as dead air goes.
I reckon Bill finds the AM sites a means to an end for FM translators.
Keep the AM sites running low and go cap in hand to ACMA for wide area “infill” FM translators.
What’s likely happened at 2NZ is the local playout has ‘missed the pulse’ from the sat program and so the backup tape kicks in.
Is there any pop songs played on Triple M (An Active Rock station that plays like INXS (Rock), Bon Jovi (Hard Rock), Noiseworks (Pub Rock) or U2 (Rock and Classic Rock)?
Not really, the closest would be a lite rock song, like “Missing You” (John Waite).
Mondo Rock- Primitive Love Rites
Ronnie Burns- Exit Stage Right
Radio Free Phoenix (based in Arizona). Both played over the last week. These Aussie artists never really made it in the US.
2ch just played, Macarena by Los Del Rio
Time to request Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. Let’s gets those oldies into the mosh pit.
Meanwhile, at around 3:45pm this afternoon, 94.9 Power FM played “Walking On The Moon” by The Police!
Maybe not all that surprising since the Hot AC stations in general across several networks have started to skew older in recent times.
That may be true, but there’s not many Hot AC stations that play the occasional late 70s track, certainly not on SCA’s regional Hit stations.
Over the course of today, looking at Lava, Power FM also played “It Must Be Love” by Madness, as well as “Modern Love” by David Bowie.
Between 9am & 5pm today (Tuesday 20th October 2020), Power FM played 3 songs that were released before 1985, whilst Wave FM only played 1 song from that era over the same period. i98 played more pre-1985 songs than Wave, in which they played 4 songs over that period.
Well, giant steps are what you take (to win the ratings). They may as well play it.
You want to mush the oldies?
Oops Mosh Pit it should be.
Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters on ABC local Radio - What???
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - Good Vibrations. Heard this morning on Triple M Sydney. Something to do with a Panthers legend choosing music from 1991, the year they won their first premiership.
I don’t mind it when a station goes out of format for music on occasions, makes it interesting.
I bet Triple M Sydney will never play Colette’s “Ring My Bell” again, or Slim Dusty’s “Duncan” again though!
Mark Geyer?
If I’m not mistaken, this current Triple M presenter/commentator did play in the 1991 Grand Final!
