The ironic thing is, this would only happen on weekends, as 2GO (& Triple M Hobart) wouldn’t play the song on weekdays from 5:30am to 4pm, as it has a different log to the rest of the network, in which it doesn’t play as much newer music.
On weekends, 2GO takes the network log, but Triple M Hobart continues with its own log.
This is now also making near-weekly appearances on 97.3 Brisbane’s Saturday Night Party Mix too.
Meanwhile - here’s one I heard on the Hit Network’s RnB Fridays playlist yesterday (apparently it got spins on 32 stations sharing mostly the same list):
Icy Blu - Pump It (Nice N’ Hard). Peaked at Number 8 in Aus back in 1991.
Very pop oriented, but maybe then again after hearing A-ha on Triple M FM a few days ago, maybe a more definite sign that they are looking to soften their music.
Probably not for the “Great Songs” thread, but down at Killcare Heights right now, and found 2SSR Sutherland playing “Boys” by Sabrina (1988 I think). Haven’t heard that on the radio for probably 30 years!
Moved from the ‘Digital Radio’ topic as I feel it is more appropriate here:
KIIS90s has a unique error before, with two songs playing simultaneously. Actually quite disappointing because one I really like (Shimmer by Fuel) was being interrupted by another one! The original issue was that two ads were playing at the same time, then it kept going with the music. It was revolved during the following song.
Yet another live version sighted on Mix 106.3, “Sunday Bloody Sunday” by U2. (just a Triple M station trying to be proper Triple M) Unsure of performance
Last I checked, isn’t Mix an AC? In which case U2 wouldn’t be out of place or anything unusual.
If it was something like Korn, or Kendrick Lamar, sure, it’d be out of place, and probably worth mentioning. But AC’s and softer rock do somewhat go hand in hand.
This has occurred a couple of times on 97.3FM in Brisbane before during their Saturday Night Party Mix. Two songs play simultaneously due to a previous sweeper having a delay in firing off. Guessing it might just be a playout system glitch.
