It is tough change for Deal I reckon. Technically, 10 has a bigger audience at 7pm than 6pm. So it should be getting exposed to a larger audience. But, it was doing well for the network at 6pm and making gains in the 6pm slot. So it would be unfair if this lineup doesn’t work and if Deal is affected because of it.
Yeah it’s not much of a choice is it? News on 7 and 9, and current affairs on 10. I get what they’re trying to do but it’s not much of an alternative. Let’s see how long this Behind the Lines lasts…
Do it properly at 7pm? @Timothy_Jong, why do you want Deal or No Deal to be axed? The more you barrack for something to be gone, the more likely it’ll be that it will go away. Like how The Project has been axed after low ratings and mass speculation.
TBH, I actually love Deal or No Deal. For me it’s really the only show I’d watch on TV these days, otherwise I’m here with our fellow MS colleagues and correspondents.
If you want Sale Of The Century on, maybe perhaps have that show air at a later timeslot on a night where there’s no MasterChef or other flagship shows on. It would be an absolute shame to lose Deal or No Deal from our TV screens again.
Sale of the Century would be a tougher sell to viewers regardless of the time slot. Not only would a reboot need to be promoted as a refreshed format, but it would also have to convince audiences that the legacy of the original is being handled with the respect it deserves—especially under a new network. The real challenge would be giving viewers compelling reasons to tune in night after night, without relying on constant gimmicks, flashy giveaways, or aggressive promotion to keep them engaged.
And let’s be honest—10’s track record with game shows hasn’t exactly inspired a great deal of confidence either.
