I don’t think 10 have thought this out at all. The promo is terrible. It’s actually one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I don’t think Grant is right for this and the promo campaign is awful. It will do worse than 6pm portion of news.

Comments on Facebook disagree. I see praise for Grant and the dancing.

I don’t mind Grant. I loved Family Feud. I just find this ad campaign terrible. He actually looks psychotic and unhinged in the ad with the over the top dancing and facial expressions. For 10s sake I hope it works but in reality I don’t see it.

They’re actually the best qualities for a good game show host.

I think the promo actually is enough to make people want to tune out. It’s a brand damaging promo

The brand must be taken seriously.

Irrelevant dancing in a terrible promo… that wouldn’t be Tamara Simoneau would it?

The dancing part is by far the most cringeworthy aspect of that promo. Grant had a habit of doing that stupid dancing thing in Celebrity Name Game and now it seems all they’re aiming for is the daggy dad audience instead of the mainstream. Anything good regarding the show will be turned off by the lame promos.

You do remember the previous Deal or No Deal host when it was on Seven?..

Oh yes he was far worse and a blight on seven forever. Together with Ben Roberts Smith, the place was full of questionable employees.

Look I understand Grants schtick. It’s the ad that annoys me and his facial expressions and dancing. There’s no need for it. They should be playing different ads now, showing the game play and try to build some interest.

So you just like to whinge about everything. Got it.

I’m not a big fan of the promotions either.
I don’t think the promo’s are aimed at the audience the show will eventually attract.

I agree. They need to have shown what engages DOND viewers, because it lacks the engagement of Hot Seat/The Chase in that viewers could answer the questions and get immediate feedback.

The show is still a number of weeks away from being on-air, I’m sure we’ll likely see varied promos in the weeks ahead.

But not too far ahead, since everything with 10 is usually last minute:

Nine has been airing promos for Tipping Point Australia for months and the promos are quite engaging and make you want to watch the show - same can’t be said about the DOND ads which are quite bland and just using the same formula of the previous game show iterations.
Even if 10 change the promos within the final few weeks, its too late.

I’d argue their strategy with bringing back the show / timeslot / choice of host ensured it was doomed from the start.
