The Aussie version always leaned that way, agreed. The UK and US versions punched into the drama aspect.
IMO Grant is the closest to AOK’s persona for DonD, unlike say Larry, who suits Chase fine, but would need to be way more bubbly and loose etc for Deal, like aforementioned about the banter between host & contestant and mucking around.
He did Price is Right for years, and Family Double Dare before that. Larry could/can do ‘bubbly and loose’ and banter just fine…

So there’s 22 cases in the revival. Here’s the cash amounts:
I would’ve replaced the $40,000 cash amount with $200,000
Slight bit of difference in how much money they are offering if you do that.
Why don’t you donate the $160,000 cash to make it happen?
No car
been watching the US version for a bit on Prime Video, so it’s gonna be interesting going from the dramatics and thrill of the US version back to the goofy/lightheartedness vibe of our DOND
$100,000 is a bit of a downgrade from the $200k from Seven’s version lol
Hopefully the Australian version of deal or no deal (including the Andrew O’Keefe era) is on Prime Video.
Whhhhyyy do they do this? Never works out.
Isn’t it obvious? 10 has a lower budget to spend on the show.
My question was rhetorical. Of course it’s obvious.
Corect me if I’m wrong but didn’t the original version on 7 start with $100,000 and later they doubled it to $200,000?
Wasn’t the prime time show prize something crazy like $2M? Then went to $200k for the weekday show?
Was $2M for the primetime version in 2003 then dropped to $200K when it went daily in 2004.
In an interesting but rather embarrassing piece of DoND history, the $2M case was the first one to ever be knocked out.
Sadly I cannot find the premiere episode on YouTube as chances are it has been taken down.
The biggest cash prize won was in that 2003 season when a contestant took a deal for $515,000.
We’re our own worst enemy really. I don’t like seeing the prize money drop either, but our shift away from FTA caused it etc etc
This was in episode 2, and given how the first deal went - Seven were probably smart to then run the premiere as a double episode, to have that big win at the end of it all
