Deal or No Deal

Grant Can’t Wait For 6pm Weeknights!

Deal Or No Deal Premieres Monday 5 February At 6pm On 10 And 10 Play.

Deal or No Deal, the exhilarating hit game show where contestants must beat the Banker to win a huge cash prize of $100,000, is making a triumphant return Monday 5 February at 6pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Hosted by TV Week Gold Logie award winner Grant Denyer, every episode is a high-pressure, high-stakes game of risk versus reward in which contestants face a series of potentially life-altering decisions.

Deal or No Deal will form part of a dynamic new early evening lineup, kicking off with Neighbours at 4pm Monday – Thursdays, followed by The Bold and the Beautiful at 4.30pm. 10 News First will return to a one-hour bulletin, delivering comprehensive news coverage from 5pm. Deal or No Deal will then hit screens at 6pm followed by The Project at 6.30pm.

We are so excited, and we just can’t hide it!

Deal or No Deal is a Banijay Group format produced by Endemol Shine Australia for Network 10.

Do they do any strategy and planning to work out what Viewers want at 6 and would make them wanna give a game show a chance at 6 and then target a campaign around that?

Or do they just let a creative with a wacky idea run free

The OG top prize on the weeknight format hosted by AOK when it was on 7 from 2004-2013.

Yes they did, but they didn’t like the answer so this is what we get. More of the same.

What was the answer?

Not a game show and not news. But Ten don’t know anything else these days.

How is this new or dynamic?

Could Ready Steady Cook have worked at 6pm then straight into reality at 7pm?

The Simpsons

Might be an option for 6/6.30 paired with Deal.

The only time they tried Ready Steady Cook in prime time was a celebrity edition and it flopped spectacularly.

The whole show is cheesy. Don’t forget that the highlight of the show was a large number of hot models in slinky dresses carrying the briefcases into the studio. Then they just stood next to them looking like glamours, until the contestant chose their briefcase and they had to open it. Hard work. :joy:

It’s never pretended to be Mastermind.

I think the show and the creative advertising can be judged separately.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Mastermind or not, that ad campaign is fucking dreadful. It has no unique selling point. Honestly it feels like they’ve gone to an ad agency (whether they have or not I’m not sure) and the agency has picked out a concept they had lying around. The ad could just as easily be advertising a cereal or flu medicine.

I’m so excited. And I just can’t hide it…

We all know that whatever 10 airs at 6pm will get flogged by both News Services over on Seven and Nine. Will the ratings improve on February 5 when Deal returns? Yes, perhaps in the short term. But i wonder when the ratings will go back to what the 6pm portion of 10 News was getting. As early as Easter 2024 (end of March)? 6 months? Later in the year? Time will tell.

Can’t wait for the show to return, but yeah, that ad was pretty lousy

Are you privy to that information?

Deal or no Deal is tension and drama.
The title even says that

That’s the mood state the promo should have played off

How 10s marketing team and network honchos signed off on that promo concept is beyond me

They could have even done a spin on what The Block does with their transporting of the reserves.

It would still be cheesy, but in a more relative way to what DoND is about.

If I was looking forward to watching the reboot (which I’m not, but in an alternate universe…), that ad would’ve changed my mind in an instant. Just cringe at its worst.

They should have done detailed market analysis and worked out what could get people to switch at 6pm and then built a programming and marketing strategy around that

Really? I always thought it was all about the banter with the host mucking around with the contestants. I don’t think it would work if it went serious and was all about the tension and drama.
