Dancing with the Stars

I really don’t understand how it is an All Stars if there are new contestants. Not only are they at a massive disadvantage but it defeats the purpose of an All Stars. We’ve seen how bad an All Stars vs Newbies type thing failed on MKR but some full All Star season have done well (e.g. Aus Survivor, Masterchef). Let’s hope it’s the later.

Whilst the Somers / Kruegar combination seems a bit dated, I think it makes sense that they host given it is All Stars. The cast list so far of returnee’s seems pretty predictable though with a lot of current or former Seven network stars. I’m guessing those are the sort of names that will take up the bulk of the cast.

Yuck :face_vomiting:

Don’t need them either.

As I said all-stars is enough of ‘the past’, everything else should be different.

And I’d agree with that too.

Yes, it’s an awful idea.

It’s similar to My Kitchen Rules’ most recent season in 2020, where half the teams were all stars from previous seasons and the other half of teams were brand new.

Time to call it:

Dancing with the Stars: The Rivals :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Guess Dianne Buswell should also make a return as an ‘all-star’ then :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We’ve just had another version of this show with new hosts that also tried to modernise the format a bit. Nostalgia is probably Seven’s best bet of this doing well especially with the audience that were watching this on Seven (it skewed a lot older). Maybe a bit of balance with 1-2 previous judges and 1 of the old hosts leaving some room to keep it fresh.

I liked the idea of the all stars but I agree with others the newbies doesn’t fit with the theme. They are also really disadvantaged going against some that have won it. I’d be all for Schapelle being on a normal series.

And also The Voice in the past 2 seasons - they also had ‘All-Stars’ which were returning contestants as well as newbies

Does anyone know any insider info about the show? I know it’s a ‘two-week event’, but does that mean it’ll air every day over the 2 weeks or will it still just be 2-3 episodes/week?
It seems like they’re recruiting so many contestants if the show is only going to run for a couple episodes.

I’ve also heard that eliminations will be based on judges’ scores seeing as everything is pre-recorded. Does that mean the winner won’t be a public vote?

I have not liked Sonia for years, she lost her shine with her racist views on muslim immigration. But the original DWTS i did like her on, the format suits her to a tee. She should host this and be dumped from her other 4 shows. Hopefully we get the old Sonia back for this.

7 shouldn’t be afraid to do a female hosting duo. I would like to see Sonia and Edwina and watch them try to outshine each other.

as for the judges, Todd would have to be the staple, then guest judges seats filled with past contestants, past judges and past professionals.

Exactly what I was going to say!

No thanks. His attitude was condescending and ingenuine and he was extremely unpleasant to watch on DWTS. Always nitpicking instead of offering constructive criticism like Craig Revel Horwood.

I hope they can get Sharna across to judge if they want a familiar face.

Fixed.

There’s plenty of other good talents in-house at Seven so no need for Kruger everywhere who seems to appear simply because she’s got a massive contract to fulfil.

Also here’s something I found on YouTube:

The above video is probably enough to explain why we don’t want to see either the hosts or the judges of that time (except maybe Helen Richey) on this ‘all-star’ reboot.

We’re going to be seeing Sonia all year. Holey Moley, Big Brother, The Voice. DWTS. Get used to it.

I didn’t think the judges were so bad in that video. And I thought Sonia was quite good. It’s actually the best I have seen from her. Daryl on the other hand…

And this time next year Channel Seven will be taken off the air and replaced by a test pattern with Kruger and Somers’ faces attached :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I actually thought the judges performance there was pretty refreshing. I’d much rather that than the fake and saccharine judging style on The Voice.

Sonia is well overused on 7

True, The Voice’s judging is pretty contrived and seems fake.

Although, I think 10’s DWTS judging was a lot better with a good balance between praise and criticism and everyone seems to get along well. The judges in that video just seemed to stick the boot into the contestant and it just seems they’re playing up to cameras rather than actually being genuinely critical.

Let’s hope Seven can get better judges than that lot.

Agree about Daryl. He was just acting stupid most of the time and can’t even string a proper sentence together.

Nice reference to that show on Channel 9, even though it was probably unintentional. :stuck_out_tongue:

You do realise at its peak this show was getting 2 million+ as season averages. I know it was a different time in TV land, but I think it’s a bit much to slag a whole show and cast off when they were responsible for one of the biggest shows on TV in the last 15 years. Do times need to move on… perhaps… but the audience they are targeting in this all stars season are probably not going to kind the old faces.
