When was Matt Preston on the show before?
Don’t think he has ever been on the show before.
Plus it’s the Daily Mail. Wouldn’t always trust what they have to say about something.
Woman’s Day is now saying the All Stars version will be filmed in Sydney in March 2021.
February to April dates I’m hearing for production.
Is this in Melbourne or Sydney?
Sydney
I thought it was going to be filmed over 3 weeks.
Making a show takes longer than just filming dates.
Ok I mistook that for filming. Thanks
Seven’s director of programming Angus Ross told TV Tonight that the All Stars version would start filming in Sydney in March.
It’s not going to be Live, it will be a multi-night format. We’re trying to reinvigorate the format in this market, with a different style of roll-out and a real nostalgia. If you look back to those past winners past and high achievers, they are now at least 10 years on. There’ll be a level of interest as to how people have changed, who was the best …and we’re also going to add a few wildcards into the program as well.
DWTS All Stars will feature former contestants with several new couples with judge’s scores eliminating contestants, Ross told Mediaweek in another interview published yesterday.
Seven and Australian TV in particular seem to have a real aversion to live primetime television nowadays.
“Too expensive” and also less for them to control which is what they all seem to be about these days. It’s a real shame
Aussie tv did some of the best live event tv.
Maybe but it looks less polished, and can drag on and be scrappy. People expect better production values.
It depends what shows we are talking here. Original DWTS was tacky to look back on.
Big Brother Live evictions were the best event tv that were done for it’s time. Big crowds, slick production, strong host, minimal cross promotion for other programming.
The recent DWTS was good when 10 stepped up the production values. There are numerous shows (mostly externally produced) that were great examples of live TV done here in Australia, but yes I do agree certain ones have also been a bit on the tacky side.
BB Live Evictions were amazing under Peter Abbott, they were done in a venue that was not built for broadcasting either.
The production values of the 10 version were far superior to that of Seven!
Even through Kris Noble 2004-2007 as well. It was a great vibe.
Live TV is the commercial channels biggest weapon against the on demand streamers - it’s something Netflix and the like can’t really do.
The beauty of it is it isn’t always as polished as people involved might like it to be - and of course that viewers get to see events unfold as they actually happen, rather than be teased about them in promos for six months beforehand.
According to the interview with David Knox, Angus Ross said something along the lines of it’ll be great to get the gang back together again.
That sounds like they might be going back to the likes of Daryl Somers, Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenney again
It would be stupid if they went backwards in that direction. They’re yesterday’s talents when it comes to Dancing with the Stars. Surely they need to get some new faces fronting the show?
EDIT: Here’s where he said it.
Seven seems to be all about the yesterday at the moment.
New promo aired during Holey Moley tonight, stating it will be a two-week event. The clip features a dancing couple with footage of celebrities who were on the first 15 seasons of DWTS playing on a big screen behind.
