Dancing with the Stars

Why don’t you think it would work exactly? I think we have found stripped formats do work at 7:30. And I think it would suit 7s older audience.

I seem to remember back in 2015 (Seven’s last season) the show aired two nights a week and the ratings were an abysmal failure for 2015 standards. It was soundly beaten by The Voice and even Spelling Bee (in the demos) at the time. Mind you the show itself did change a bit from previous years which could’ve contributed to that but I still reckon the show would work as a once a week show instead of a stripped format.

I reckon if Seven did a normal season it would still work instead of the all-star season. Not many people would remember those who did DWTS all those years ago so it’s not like Masterchef where most of the contestants are well-remembered.

Maybe they are doing it because they have locked in some big previous talent?

Who would people like to see again? Here is a list I wouldn’t mind seeing if 7 could get them in:

Grant Denyer
Bec Hewitt
Ada Nicodemou
Dicko
Chris Bath
Tim Campbell
Fifi Box
Luke Jacobz
Chris Hemsworth
Celia Pacquolo
Courtney Act

There is a huge list they could get to be fair. Even the likes of Bridie Carter.

If there’s one show that she will be involved in, it’s going Dancing, right? I’d prefer if her and McKenney were the judges this time round.

You can almost guarantee Kerri-Anne will jump at the chance to be on TV again.

Bring back Shane Bourne and Edwina Bartholomew… That duo worked wonders for the ratings

That is a decent list. I’d probably add Tina Arena, Ricki-Lee, Matt White, Ed Kavalee, Dami Im, Claudia Karvan to the list too. Maybe Samuel Johnson too.

Knowing Seven they’ll probably put Manu and Sam A on there too.

As I said before, I’d probably like them to have some new hosts to the program. So that means Daryl Somers, Sonia Kruger, Edwina Bartholomew, Dan McPherson, Mel B and Shane Bourne are out. Amanda Keller obviously won’t be a part of this because of her commitment with 10 and Denyer, as much as he is decent we probably could do without him for this revival. Larry and Kylie from The Morning Show would be excellent. Maybe even pairing Kylie or Larry with Joh Griggs.

I wonder who do you think would be good judges for this revival. Any popular Australian ballroom dancers out there who could be in good contention?

I think they should get Sharna back at the very least. Maybe even get someone like Dianne Buswell on Strictly Come Dancing. Just no more Todd McKenney, Josh Horner and Mark Wilson please. The latter two were woeful.

Though I don’t think he’ll be able to make it due to the restrictions.

@turdall I just read the TVBlackbox’s article and it says that this series won’t have any 10 talents which is a shame.

That is a shame.

I think tv audiences have moved on from giving hours away to reality shows which are slow and uneventful. Will rate OK but not like it did before, just can’t compete with streaming and choice!

Agreed, 10’s first season particularly was really really good

Matt Shirvinton was on DWTS in season one. He is now signed with Seven. Will he appear on this All-stars edition, i wonder…

I want Mark Holden or Pauline Hanson in for the all-stars!

That is a great idea…if Seven wants to have the audience turn off the TV or throw rotten eggs and tomatoes at the TV.

7 needs all the DailyMail / newscorp articles to drive viewers!

And create some fake news controversy to stir them up. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This is the second show that has moved from Seven (as the original network) to another network for two seasons and then back on Seven (the first being Australia’s Got Talent).

It’s probably too early to tell but if the ratings of the last season of Australia’s Got Talent is anything to go by, this reboot will probably do quite well overall. I don’t think it will blow everyone away but it should rate better than most of their fillers they’ve used this year like Highway Patrol, Britain’s Got Talent, America’s Got Talent, movies and other filler specials. I reckon they’re not using this to be a tentpole but instead a part of the puzzle that helps Seven regain some ground in terms of ratings by filling the holes every year.

Maybe they’re just whistling dixie and won’t actually produce Dancing, like Idol, just buying format rights to stop Nine (and 10) from airing them? :man_shrugging:

I reckon they’re more likely to produce and air Dancing. It’s quite expensive and buying it just to sit on the shelf is going to keep burning their money and worsen their situation. It’s been touted as a short-run series so it’s not going to be too expensive.

Idol is probably just a placeholder for The Voice. I’m pretty sure if The Voice rates decently (which I’m expecting it to) then they’ll dump Idol and keep The Voice.
