Dancing with the Stars

To be fair, I did say that I’m ‘either’ indifferent or have no idea :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. I know who Beau Ryan, Dean Wells, Christian Wilkins, Angie Kent is and I’ve heard of Claudia Karvan before.

Thanks. Always good to learn something each day.

Australia, Let’s Dance. It’s Time To Meet Your Stars.

Premieres Sunday 9 February

We’re going to get straight to the point. The bosses have been busy recruiting to bring you a star studded line-up of celebrities who will be hitting the dance floor when 10’s Dancing With The Stars premieres on Sunday, 9 February at 7.30pm live on 10.

Claudia Karvan, Ed Kavalee, Celia Pacquola, Chloe Lattanzi, Dean Wells, Travis Cloke, Dami Im, Angie Kent, Beau Ryan and Christian Wilkins have been hitting the rehearsal studios to perfect their foxtrot, rumba, cha-cha and waltz for the brand new, sparkly season of Dancing With The Stars.

Claudia Karvan’s name is synonymous with iconic Australian dramas including Love My Way and The Secret Life Of Us, but stepping out of the acting world and into the dancing world could be her greatest challenge yet. Will she be able to put her acting skills to good use, or will a real-life drama unfold before our eyes?

Joining Claudia are resident jokesters Ed Kavalee and Celia Pacquola, who will be hoping that they don’t become the butt of everyone’s jokes as they attempt to quickstep their way to the mirror ball trophy.

Fresh off the plane from America we have actress and performer, Chloe Lattanzi. The daughter of Australia’s sweetheart, Olivia Newton-John, Chloe is no stranger to the spotlight. Chloe is ready and waiting in the wings to put her musical and acting talents to good use.

Known for being wrapped up in controversy, a highly publicised cheating scandal, and a marriage at first sight, reality TV star Dean Wells will be officially waltzing away from the dramatic dinner parties, and cha-cha-chaing his way onto the dancefloor.

After playing 256 AFL games and winning a premiership, you’d think Travis Cloke has jumped over his fair share of hurdles throughout his career. But his biggest one awaits when he attempts to swap the footy boots for dancing shoes.

Singing sensation Dami Im is no stranger to the stage having represented Australia at Eurovision Song Contest 2016. But, just how will this self-confessed unco fare on the dance floor?

Fresh from finding love, Australia’s favourite bachelorette, Angie Kent, will be swapping roses for rumba, and cocktail parties for dance parties. Will she literally fall head over heels, or will she spin her way to a win?

And not one to shy away from a challenge, The Amazing Race Australia host Beau Ryan will be hoping that he’s picked up some dancing skills on his recent worldwide adventures.

Last, but definitely not least, podcast guru, model, socialite, TV presenter and son of TV royalty Richard Wilkins, Christian Wilkins is no stranger to the entertainment world. But is he ready for a challenge of a different kind?

Hosted by 10’s dazzling dynamic duo Amanda Keller and Grant Denyer, Dancing With The Stars sees ten illustrious celebrities paired with professional dancers to compete in a dance competition oozing glitz and glamour, to win $50,000 for their chosen charity.

Under the watchful eye of our three judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Sharna Burgess and Tristan MacManus – the pressure is on to ensure the celebrities don’t put a foot wrong and risk elimination.

So, get ready because it’s going to be one hell of a dance off!

They did well to keep a lid on all the Stars this year. That promo looks really great. Good to see Ten is finally able to make really great promos for their shows, which they used to struggle with a few years ago.

I think making MAFS contestants “stars” is a joke. :face_vomiting:

Ed’s abs will look good in his dancing get up.

Great promo.

Love Claudia Karvan, Celia Pacquola and Dami Im.

Good casting for Dean Wells and Christian Wilkins, bringing in different audiences.

Not crazy about Beau Ryan or Angie Kent being involved, even though I think they’ll do alright.

I didn’t know Chloe Lattanzi or Travis Cloke.

He is the only one I don’t recognise.

Yeah doesn’t seem like any overly recognisable name, I certainly hadn’t heard it before this.

Peter Ford was leaking it this afternoon:

So are they filming on the same set as Last Year?

For once he was on the money.
This is new.

No, the show is filming at Docklands Studios in Melbourne this year (due to Fox Studios occupied by Marvel movies for the next two years), but the producers may adopt some elements of last year’s Sydney set.

Aside from the obvious “More like People you’ve vaguely heard of in the Media than Stars” contestants, I’m actually familiar with five (maybe even six) of those names.

I probably still won’t be watching though…

Gee, haven’t they been on the network heaps in recent years?!

Or even MasterChef if she’s a good enough cook, haha!

Even though Married At First Sight basically was the most popular program anywhere on Australian television last year, I agree!

Ed and Beau are network talent, so yes. Angie practically is, if she isn’t officially. But I could do without her.

Surely they could just shift the set down to Melbourne or build a replica? 10 are usually on the ball with high quality productions so I’d say they want to make it as spectacular as last year, despite the change in location.

Angie also told the Herald Sun that DWTS would be her last reality TV gig.

I don’t think anybody wants to see me do any more reality TV, let’s face it.
Last year I was on the beans, then champagne and now full throttle with dance. I’m a sucker for punishment, but it is very daunting for me to go back onto a show so soon after a hectic year.

Well, she would say that to throw you of the scent when she’s on The Masked Singer later in the year. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I was actually looking forward to DWTS but I’m not all that impressed with the contestants this year. Is Christian Wilkins well known in Sydney? Every time I’ve seen him on the red carpet he seems to trying to get noticed. Also I don’t need to see Angi in everything, although if TAR-A do a celebrity version she’d be quite good with Yvie.

Ed’s participation should provide Sam and Tom with lots of jokes on HYBPA?.
