Dancing with the Stars

I’d say it hardly counts when the forecast is made on the same day as the PR announcement. So many would have known ahead of tonight’s release.

Only from newspaper gossip columns as the son of Richard Wilkins. Same with Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe.

Olivia Newton-John’s daughter joins DWTS:

I saw this and thought there was someone whose name is Richard Wilkins Kid.

I reckon it is a pretty solid cast. Ed, Claudia, Dami, Celia, Angie, Beau are all instantly recognisable to me and I’ve heard of the rest, I think they’ll all bring their own flair and if it can measure up to last year than it should be another fun season.
Concerned about its ability to succeed up against MAFS but 10 can’t just roll out and not try.

Shame HYBPA starts later in the year - it could have had a field day every week about Ed’s involvement if DWTS was airing at the same time!

True, but that would’ve ruled Ed out of doing both since HYPBA films on a Sunday afternoon for a Monday broadcast.

Even if DWTS was on Monday’s again, you’d think his training schedule will be too full while busily preparing the day before.

I actually find this quite rude, Christian has a name and it should be used irrespective of whose child he is or how well he may be known in some circles.

I actually think it’s a great cast. Very light on with the sporting personalities which is good as 10 need them for survivor.

I think they have deliberately skewed young to try and tackle MAFS.

Importantly, there are some big personalities on there with Claudia, Ed, Beau, Angie, Cecilia. Christian and chloe to be the headline grabbers!

You are on an Australian TV Forum and you’ve “heard of Claudia Karvan somewhere before”. :joy:

I too like the cast for DWTS but are 10 only going to have 10 contestants this year? Last year they had 11 so I assumed there was one to be announced still.

That should make 9 episodes, which will make the finale on Sunday April 5, which is the first Sunday of Easter non-ratings.

If there was 11 celebrities, there would be 10 episodes, making the finale on Sunday April 12, which is Easter Sunday.

I applaude 10 for considering this when planning the season.

I see that would make sense.

Oh the pictures and video will live forever. It will be brought up every week like Sam’s holiday photo and Ed’s Red Rooster commercial. Unless he is really good and never wears a ridiculous costume.

She was great last year.

DWTS is far better than those 2 shows

I would say most of the set elements would be freighted down the Hume Freeway.

I think it is a smart move for Ten to put a MAFS contestant on DWTS especially if they will be scheduled against each other. I would of thought they would try and get a more likeable contestant.

It’s quite a good cast. Travis Cloke is the only one I hadn’t heard of.
However, I think this will still only attract moderate ratings. It skews old, whereas Ten’s audience is generally young.

Out of curiosity does anyone know how DWTS in USA (or in the UK, Strictly Come Dancing) fairs in demographics? I wonder if the old-skew nature of the show is only limited to Australia.

to be fair, I think that this may be a legacy of it coming from channel 7 - their shows traditionally skew older and each series they always had some older contestants, and hosts (apart from dan macpherson)…ten did a good job with series one with freshening it up and briging it a big younger and they seem to be going harder on this in season two with the announcement of this cast and their song choices for the promo.
