Cyclone Alfred - Coverage

Seems Josh Holt is co-hosting 10’s extended bulletin from the desk with Narelda.

Beginning felt a bit clunky, there was some loud noise in the newsroom as Narelda introduced Josh which made him look around briefly, then after the first cross the camera cut back to him at the desk and he briefly looked at Narelda before introducing the next reporter.

I wish they would have sat him next to Neralda rather than where guests sit.

Hopefully they move him at 3:30 (if the special coverage continues)

So much for 7 axing him :stuck_out_tongue:

Sharyn will take over coverage from 2pm AEDT / 1pm AEST.

Though things could change at any point.

Have to say, Narelda and Josh aren’t a formidable duo. It’s felt a bit clunky and average so far.

Would’ve had someone like Hugh or Lachlan leading coverage alongside Narelda, with Josh providing analysis from the video wall.

It’s Narelda. She’s just terrible.

Hopefully it amps up once Sharyn takes over from 1pm AEST.

Afternoons presenter Kat Feeney spoke to ABC Radio Adelaide’s Sonya Feldholf and Jules Schiller about this on this mornings program:

Though someone didn’t check her shift first before publishing this  :

Drive presenter Kat Feeney

To some extent but I think it’s also the direction they’re being given, at times they’re acting as co-hosts and then Narelda seemingly still taking control with Josh providing analysis.

Far cry from the likes of Sarah Harris & Matt White cohosting special coverage in a joint Eyewitness News & Studio 10 early bulletin all those years ago - can’t recall what it was for? (Or find the video either)

Personally I would’ve liked them to send Josh to the affected area for this, given his background on reporting on cyclones / weather events and is obviously familiar to Queensland audiences.

Cyclone coverage especially rolling can be terrible. So much time filling nonsense. Seven interviewing a bunch of FIFO workers was like watching paint dry.

Josh is very well known in the Queensland market though. Lachlan and Hugh are doing Sydney things, I assume. Again, 10 doing a good job within the resources (and rosters) that they have. Imagine it would be more important to have reporters on the ground in QLD/NSW.

Also, why not just go across the afternoon today. Builds momentum for hopefully more extended coverage in coming days.

Be interesting to see what happens in Perth and if Narelda does a special bulletin for them. Also, if it was planned or just happy coincidence, it’s good that they’ve got their Perth newsroom going on Saturday for election coverage as I imagine the East will be pretty busy.

Think @blackbox said this was a trial for bringing Studio 10 into the breakfast timeslot.
Good times. This broadcast looked extremely classy.

Is it just me or does Narelda keep tripping over her words?
It’s rather annoying.

Not surprising at all.

This was peak 10 - they desperately need to bring a brekkie show back.

They don’t, it won’t work and history has repeatedly shown this.

What it does show however, is that when they need to, they can do breaking news and coverage well.

10 News is without the “lunch” label

Toy Auden seems to be in front of a green screen? Doesn’t seem to be in the studio.
