Australia have achieved an 8-0 clean sweep on their tour of the Caribbean, beating West Indies by three wickets in the fifth and final T20 international in St Kitts, in Adam Zampa’s 100th T20 match. Again electing to bowl first, Australia dismissed the home side for 170, before reaching the target with three overs to spare, thanks to the middle order batters.

Ben Dwarshuis was named player of the match for taking 3/41 while Cameron Green was named player of the series.

Westpac’s partnership with CA was officially unveiled in Sydney this morning, even though the deal actually commenced on July 1, and the logo appeared on the shirt of Australia A players during the recent match against Sri Lanka A.

Under the agreement, Westpac’s logo will be front and centre on the shirts of the Australian men’s and women’s teams for all matches played in Australia across Test, One-Day and T20 formats, as well as Australia A and under 19s. Westpac also becomes an Official Partner of the men’s and women’s Big Bash Leagues.

AFR reports the new deal is believed to be worth $10 million annually over four years.

It’s uncanny how similar the 1st innings scores have been in the ENG v IND Test series.

1st Test - IND 471, ENG 465 (6 runs)
3rd Test - ENG 387, IND 387 (tied)
5th (current and final) Test - IND 224, ENG 247 (23 runs)

The final day of the ENG v IND Test series is tonight (our time).

England needs 35 runs to win the 5th Test with 4 wickets in hand, all main batters are out. They should win from here to take the series 3-1 but a couple of early wickets could make it interesting. 30% chance of showers.

Keep in mind they really only have 3 wickets in hand because Chris Woakes is out hurt with a shoulder injury.

Wow, incredible finish ENG v IND, India winning by 6 runs for a 2-2 drawn series.

Woakes batted with his arm in a sling, but thankfully didn’t need to face a ball.

I’ll be interested to see what kind of turn out they get in Mackay next week. It’s been 33 years since a mens ODI has been played up there and even then that day only 2 balls could be bowled before it was washed out

South Africa defeated Australia by 98 runs in the first ODI in Cairns tonight.

Sent in to bat, South Africa made 8/296 from 50 overs, led by Aiden Markram (82), captain Temba Bavuma (65) and Matthew Breetzke (57). Travis Head took 4/57 from nine overs.

Australia had a blistering start, reaching 60 after seven overs, before player of the match Keshav Maharaj took advantage of the dew and grabbed five quick wickets (finishing on 5/33 from 10 overs), sparking a batting collapse. Mitchell Marsh and Ben Dwarshuis revived the innings with a 71-run stand, but once Marsh was dismissed for 88, the end came quickly with the home side dismissed for 198 in the 41st over.

South Africa have claimed the ODI series against Australia, winning game two in Mackay tonight by 84 runs. It’s South Africa’s fifth consecutive bilateral series win over Australia in the one-day format. The Aussies have also lost seven of their past eight ODI matches.

South Africa had a good start, reaching 5/233 after 40 overs, before the home side fought back to grab the last five wickets for 44 runs, bowling SA out for 277. Matthew Breetzke top scored with 88.

Australia’s run chase was led by Josh Inglis (87) and Cameron Green (35) with little contribution from others. Lungi Ngidi took 5/42 for the visitors.

Talk about hitting the wall. Having said that this isn’t anywhere near a full strength Australian team. With the exception of Josh Hazelwood it’s basically a second string bowling attack. Also players out if form. Marnus might have been better off staying in England and playing for Glamorgan.

@Zampakid would disagree on that! I rate Adam Zampa as probably the most consistent limited overs bowler, especially in T20.

One wonders how seriously they take these ‘Mickey Mouse’ series with zero context, though. There’s another of these meaningless series against India in October apparently, probably to fulfill our quota of matches against India for this year.

That said, if cricket is on I’ll watch it and it’s good that the tropics are seeing some international cricket.
